Here's the thing thick headed socialists dont get:

For the thickheaded capitalists on here

Do not underestimate the Squats. They survived for millenia cut off from the Imperium and assailed on all sides. Their determination and resilience is an example to us all.

1. The video in the OP is not an explanation of what is going on in Venezuela, its 'rebel propaganda news'.
For a start the Maduro government is not illegitimate, the video presented simply prefers you to think it is.
2. Maduro is not Chavez, Chavez had a level of spin that was working, Maduro's spin might not work so well.
3. Third party sources reported on the uprisings during the time of Chavez and the general concensus of the
foreign press was the Chavez was a legitimate leader with a mandate who was being repeatedly destabilised
by foreign influence. Fingers were repeatedly pointed at the US by the media in this.
It appears that eventually the US or whoever it was stopped trying to organise coups. When Chavez was ousted
on the backs of the will of the people enough people immediately took to the streets to ensure that everyone
knew that the will of the people was elsewhere.
4. Maduro is tapping into some of that support, but it is of the interest of those who wanted rid of Chavez to claim
that he is not. That lie can stack quite easily and become the truth.
5. The destablising influences are heavily focused on Venezuelas oil wealth which being managed by a socialist
government is not handled to the satisfaction of powerful foreign figures. I will avoid speculation as to who those
people might be, as we are never entirely sure and global players are more than able to mask themselves.
6. The current demonstrations haven't really gone much beyond the students. This should tell you something.
When students rally for the 'common good' but the working class do not march behind them in sufficient numbers
the cause may be little more than a fringe event. Students are the easiest people to actively politicise, and a student
riot, even if casualties result is no actual proof of destablisiation for anyone outside of bottle throwing range.
7. Even so a lot of western commentaries prefer to see these troubles as Maduro vs the people.
8. Crime is listed as a factor in the videos in the OP. Large numbers of shootings etc. This is central America,
ultimately its the local 'culture' not the government. Life is cheap there, and while its highly regretable it would be no
different no matter who was in power. There is a difference between inadequate police quality meaning most
murders are unsolved and police causing disappearances. Crap police are just what happens in places like this.
9. The riots are triggered according to those who support them, by the highlighting inadequate policing as a party
related problem - noticing that the OP video doesn't accuse the police of more than this. The vast homicide rate is
regular crime not government caused and is not in any way unusual for a nation in the cocaine producing belt.
This smacks to me of serious issues we can always grumble about, not issues specific to the Maduro government.
What has Maduro failed to do, make cocaine not grow in the tropics, make vast numbers of people not want to buy
it.
10. While not reported this was the government has managed to contain an overspill. Demonstrations can balloon
quickly, but images of large crowds waving banners and cars burning is not of itself signs to real unrest, just signs
of active triggers of social unrest. Demonstrations are easy to organise, usually mostly peaceful and should be
legitimate anyway, turning them violent is a media trigger, these triggers can misfire.
Anyway this looks to me like
Dear student leaders,
Please find an issue you and the people are genuinely concerned about, is clearly damaging Venezuela,
and have protracted protests using the issue as an excuse. .
Remember to wear masks and bring bottles and bricks in case the police turn up. We want to see riots
on the news, try an escalate as much as you can. Martyrs would be great thanks.
Signed,
Your financial backers who would prefer Venezuela had a different government
so we can have a bigger slice of the oil revenue.
P.S. Please us and when you compete your degree courses we might arrange a decent career for you.
