Space Marine Scout with Sniper Rifle

G'day once again
I am back with my mostly finished assault squad, I would like to apologize as I still haven't acquired the paints for the faces yet nor have I got anything to base my models with, hopefully with some luck and money I can get them soon.
Anyway here are the models, I have to say I really despise building and painting the jump packs for some reason, they really felt like a nuisance, and I forgot about the mold lines on the jump packs so they stick out a lot. But once they were out of the way I enjoyed the rest, I took bits and pieces from the tactical squad to make the sergeant, overall I think I did good with these even though they are only my second squad.
Devastators are up next, I have some ideas for the loadout but I think I'am going to swap the missile launcher in my tac squad with a multi-melta or plasma and make a 2xLas 2xML devastator squad like Nevelon said previously. Also I have struggled to find a colour to paint the helmet on a sergeant, the reason why I have none but I am going to try it with this squad, hopefully it turns out alright.
So that's it for now, sorry If this went a little to long.
Cheers

Nice posing. I like that assault marines have some life to them. They aren’t just standing around holding a bolter. They have a job to do, and are on the move!
The mold lines will forever be a problem. Diligence is the only answer. There are a few spots which look to need some touching up, but I’m not sure if that’s just the pictures. Around the knees and the odd shoulder pad are what leapt out.
Overall, a nice looking batch of jump marines.

Thanks Nevelon
I noticed in my tactical squad that all my marines were fairly bland and were just standing around, so I hope to have more dynamic poses with future marines. Somehow I managed to miss painting the foot on my sergeant
So here is my 1st devastator marine, he needs some touching up and isn't finished, it's just what I could get done today. I think I need to get the citadel paints version of bone for my marines as what I'm currently using doesn't dry properly and I have to do multiple layers of bone which doesn't look as smooth as say the caliban green shoulder pad I did on one of my marines.
One quick question I have is whether it is worth giving my devastator sergeant a weapon or is it better to give him an auspex as I'm under the impression that the sergeant will shoot at whatever the rest of the squad is shooting at and my dev squad is mainly for armored enemies.
This is what I have for now, I'll post again once my Devastator squad is complete.
EDIT: Forgot to post the images
Cheers

Ausepexes are one of those little bits that have had rules in some editions, and were just decorative in others. They have rules in this one, and only HQs can take them, so no for the Dev sarge.
Of course, one of mine has one, but he was allowed to take it when I put him together.
Most of the time he’s going to be using his signum to give one of the guys in his squad BS5, so will rarely be shooting himself. Mostly I field mine with just a bolter.

Your painting has defiantly come on and is looking much better. The advice that i can offer is pretty similar to what has been said before. The things that i found affected my painting the most when i started out was thinning paint (which you have done) and washes, the wash added so much depth and means that paint does not look too flat. Babadab black (with ic now nuln oil i think) is great for metals, and devlan mud works best for most other things, apart from bone where i use grphyn sepia. I know your pains when it comes to a budget, my collection has progressed slowly. Something else that helps is a good hobby blade. which you can use to scrape down the mould lines to remove them, scraping the blade perpendicular to the surface rather than cutting means you are less likely to make a mistake. And a good paintbrush, if invested in and well maintained will last you a long time and make painting smaller details much easier (like the eyes) i think mine cost me £8 for 1 brush, but the 2 i have have, have lasted me a few years.

Nevelon: Thanks for the reply, I'll give him a weapon then as the auspex would be useless, It's good to know these things otherwise my armies would have all the wrong kinds of weapons and I wouldn't be able to play
M0rdain: Thank you very much, I still have to get a whole bunch of items like that hobby knife, and as you said having a budget is rough, especially if you have a limited assortment of paints, I am trying as hard as I can to get all the items necessary to finish my marines as I really want to see them 100% complete.
Thank you for the replies

A budget can be restricting but it can also bring out inspiration. Like scratch built weapons from sprue.
But I agree paints are the hardest things to supplement with house hold items Just get one at a time when you can (as long as you can pop in somewhere to get them rather than order online) For many years i would ask for paints for Christmas and birthday from family. Even on a budget you can get a pot or 2 from someone, and it exactly what you want. Also the look on their faces when you give them the names of the colours always makes me smile

Hello!
I'm back with the rest of my Devastator squad Now this still isn't fully complete as I haven't added any accessories or painted the Multi-Melta that will be replacing the Missile Launcher from my tactical squad, but I wanted to see what you guys thought of them, I really like the way my sergeant turned out, at first I thought the colours I chose for the power fist looked odd and out of place, but once I glued it to the mini it looked really good, well at least to me. I also decided to paint just some parts of the helmet in caliban green instead of painting the whole head, hopefully the photos show all the details.
Well that's all for now,I will post again once the accessories have been added and the multi-melta is done.
Cheers!

I might have painted the bulk of the the fist green, rather then the fingers. But I understand the need to get some contrast colors in there.
Nice to see things progressing.
