That's actually really cool. The pictures look pretty much 100% like what I saw in Beijing this summer (except with about 100x less people). Not going to lie, everything in Beijing was really dirty and constantly on the verge of breaking down compared to what I was used to.

That said, I wish pretty ladies would deliver my pizza. They even wrapped it up nice with a bow! Maybe those North Korean people have something going for them after all (I am getting on so many watch lists for that comment).

Like watching other people play video games (badly) while blathering about nothing in particular? Check out my Youtube channel: joemamaUSA!

Agreed. Fascinating shots. The stuff from Pyonyang look fairly nice and modern, but everywhere else looks ripped from the 1940's.

We can pretty much be assured that those things are just done to dress up appearances.

Elsewhere it might as well be the 1800s.

I wonder what the soldiers tasked with doing that think of their country. Do they all feel a little silly for keeping up such an obvious charade?

Humanity is capable of great acts of faith that fly in the face of all evidence. It's one of our defining characteristics, really.

I love reading about North Korea.

Its like looking into a time machine from hell. Each part of the country seems to be from different decades. Everyone smiles or looks normal (a show or not its not normal to see). Everything is clean, from streets, to villages to largely empty highways. Everything is organised so neatly its insane. Shops stock goods that nobody in the country can afford (and you all thought GW was bad) because they have to.

Its a crazy place and its unfortunate we cant look into it more. There seems like a lot to be learned.

Another thing is how much space there is. Rooms are spacious, streets are spacious. Either people are always hiding from photos or they are all shoved somewhere we cant see them who knows really.

There are also pictures where there are like computers from different decades all lined up next to each other for students to use. Because they cant replace them all.

A very fascinating place and whats odd is how long its lasted. Only time will tell how much longer.

Let's keep in mind that even though North Korea seems like an outlandishly strange place to the rest of the world, everything crazy we read about it on the internet shouldn't always be taken as absolute truth:

And some, I assume, are good people."

True. There is probably a lot of information we hear about North Korea that is not true at all. Blame propaganda and sensationalist media for it.

On the other hand, who needs to make stuff up about NK and our Dear Leader? Truth is better than fiction in this case.
