I think they're some of the best plastic kits GW has released. They look lovely, and the options are great. I love the nice mesh of more practical/sci fi military aesthetics with the French cuirassier armor too. They're very, very 40k. I do miss Kasrkin though.

Right.

If I were making stormtroopers, I think I'd just use kasrkin, or cadians where I bitz-ordered the guns/backpacks.

It's like, I like the bitz so much... but would I buy whole kits?

These are great. You can make a Gears of War, Aliens Colonial Marines, or Titanfall themed army from these so easily! Use as Vets or Stormies...or have an entire army of them! Although 10 Elysians are now cheaper then 10 scions.

compare -

GW - Tempestus Scions Expeditionary Force $845

same model count

FW - 30 elysians, 1 elysian command of 5, 4 tauroses, 3 valks $681 (just run as Scions, Tauroxes, & valks)

I don't mind them. Won't be getting any due to a combination of not jiving with my current theme and being way too expensive.

The thing is you build an army your paying for four or more command sets your not going to be using.

And anyone else is also going to have all the command bits they want so you can't even sell to bit sights for much.

Sure, but when they did it the other way, people complained as well. If people are going to complain either way, then GW might as well pursue the course that makes them the most money.

Though I wonder if they're going to keep the two different squads boxed together indefinitely. I could imagine them splitting things up in the future into a command box and a troops box that have 2/3ds the same sprues but with a different third sprue. I mean, that's what they do for guard command squads.

Perhaps this is something temporary related to the fact that it's so new.

Don't mind the models, don't love them, don't hate them.

However, I hate the price. I have an IG army and I don't see me buying any new Storm Trooper models, so I voted "No".

Yes. I like these models. And I need to get my hands on 13 of the volley guns.

I do like them. I plan to use them as Imperial Guard Veterans with lasguns/special weapons and Carapace Armor, since I don't care for Commissars and there don't seem to be any Leman Russes available to the models' intended faction.

I plan to get my grubby little mitts on quite a few packs of them, and convert a lot of them into furries, featheries, and/or scalies (by adding heads and tails). I've tried Skink parts on some Space Marine Scouts with decent success. I'm thinking either black fatigues with green armor, or green fatigues with black armor. Sorta like a woodlands thing without having to paint proper camouflage.

I bought the Imperial KNight at my GW store, for full pop. Sold the decal sheet for $20, sold the eagle heads (lot) for $5, sold each face with an icon (3) for $5 each, and sold the seals for $3...made $43 back... Love Ebay!

People probably wanted to bling up their dream forge leviathans, which they got cheaper than a knight and get a substantially bigger model that had alot more pose-ability.

Love these new guys. If I remotely had a place for them in any of my armies I'd get them.
I refuse to call them anything but stormtroopers though.

Because we have a thread for the Taurox already, but I am wondering what people think of the new Stormtroopers.
I really enjoy the new models. Lots of extra bits, guns, and some dynamic poses I feel. Pre-ordered a box (and the Taurox; don't judge me) to use as a Stormie Command Squad for all my metal guys. Very well done sculpts!

I'm buying two squads when they come out, they'll go great with my current Sturm Troopen (theres no copyright on the foreign language names, right?)

Ah, I had not seen that.

Its something for me to keep in mind for a more " kitbashed " Commissar I suppose.

Buttoned up "jacket"+the "waistcoat" legs from the Cadian Command Squad with the greatcoat bits over top of it could look nice for a Commissar.

When I get my stuff on Saturday I'll try some testfits to see how it looks if you're interested.

Very much so. If everything fits, I reckon it would look great.

Great models, aren't they? However, the tank (with AV 11/10/10) and it look are a bit questionable.

The Taurox Prime, definitely. The extra bling is just too much, I am more bothered by that than by the 11 / 10 / 10.

I kinda like the models, but putting just one of each special weapon in the kit still sucks.... I kinda thought they might fix that this release.

What is with all the little dagger edging?
Bit like Chaos decorations.
Nice to see the a dusting off of 2nd edition looks.
Lenses, masks, helmets and better armor coverage hits all the right check-boxes.
I have this small concern of $10 per model (??!!).
Me as a "collector" should not be concerned, I do not worry about price according to GW.
If they manage to get the points to capability ratio correct I may consider them in a limited qty.

I liked Kasrkins more. I like these except for the goofy plate armor chest piece. I prefer more modern looking flack armor
