If the Koreans are sensible, they will choose Japan. Every maritime nation in the region is threatened by Chinese territorial claims.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

As long as you do not mention the Liancourt rocks. Actually, if there was a war between Japan and China, I wonder which side would South Korean choose. I have absolutely no doubt about which side North Korea would, though.

If America was directly into conflict it would be Japan (same with Taiwan) but if it was a pure Japan vs China and no one backing i think it would be neutrel. None of these places want a war, it would destroy all of their economies. Also from what i can see the average Chinese is angry at Japan but don't want a war. There pretty peaceful people despite what our news tells us.

I guess I misunderstood you saying “They are pacifists” as “They are pacifists by choice/philosophy” rather than “They are pacifists because it was enforced on them/for political reasons”. Sorry about that.

No, you know what, I probably was unclear, sorry I jumped down your throat over that. Long night when I posted that, not that it's OK.

Alternatively some nice Zentraedi battlepods rising from ocean onto NK beaches, with cool paniclike music going of course. No one expects Zentraedi in the morning!

It isn't the official position of the Japanese Government to deny Nanking, the Comfort Women, or the POW situation. The government has issued several official apologies over the years, and paid financial compensation.

Some right wing nationalists deny the things happened.

It isn't covered in much detail in school history books, which I think is a bit of a problem, because the general population don't know why the Koreans and Chinese have such a downer on Japan.

The real reason the Koreans and Chinese have the attitude they do, is because the Korean and Chinese governments have deliberately fomented public animosity towards the Japanese by propaganda, in order to cover up internal social discord.

That said, there are examples of good relations between the Koreans and Japanese, and between Chinese and Japanese, so it isn't all bad.

I had some Japanese roommates that were shocked when a special report about Korean Comfort women looking for reparations and apologies was brodcast one night. The looks on their faces took in shock, shame and hurt, because they had never heard of this before.
They began asking me what the story was about the comfort women and couldn't believe they had never been told of this piece of history.
They were fairly emotionally shaken for a while after that, especially since several had fathers that fought in WW2.

Where did this happened ?
That is one of the good things about Female Convict Scorpion: Jailhouse 41 : it is one of the very few Japanese movie that make references to Japanese war crimes. I could actually not mention another (but my knowledge of Japanese films is not that great except in the Sushi Typhoon department).

Here is a very good article by one of the BBC's world news reporters, who is Japanese and was educated partly at an international school in Tokyo and partly in Australia.
