I don't remember were I heard it but I am pretty sure that living metal is supposed to be an element ie not an alloy, which would mean whether or not a tyranid could eat it is meaning less as even if the could they couldn't do anything with it once eaten. Even if they could adapt to use it(doubtful, as at that point they would need to be cyborgs or something) they really wouldn't have any way to form it to what they need especially given the metal itself would try to reform the necron it is supposed to be or just fight the nids in general.
in essence, I would say even if it is digestible, it is likely not worth all the extra expended energy, it would take to do so. It's quite likely that it would be a large net loss, if there is even any gain in absorbing it.
