I dunno if anyone has talked about the internet, but the closest thing to a galaxy-wide Internet is the planetary noospheric networks on each Mechanicus Forge World, which have periodic linkages to the main server Temple of All Knowledge in Mars to upload whatever data they have gathered and to download whatever information they need.

For this kind of interplanetary connection, psychic servitors are used as the communications medium.

Only if said computer games and internet had no AI, since that's not allowed. Maybe machine spirits somehow?

I'll never be able to repay CA for making GW realize that The Old World was a cash cow, left to die in a field.

When the AdMech speaks of "AI", or "Silica Animus" as they call it, they mean true machine intelligence. T-800 level stuff, where the machine comprehends "I think, therefore, I am" and goes from there.

They're not talking about a scripting engine that is still permitted only a limited number of responses.

Hard to know for certain. Some books do provide a more nuanced view in the daily imperial life, but for the most part the imperium is portrayed as distinct neo-feudalistic society. Exceptions do exist and are even explicitly mentioned but they are still far away from the comfort of modern day western society. Civlian commerence and business would most likely be restricted to local or regional levels. only on certain well developed but relatively lowly populated civilized worlds would be see things like privately owned corporations.

There were those privately-owned jewelry consortiums in the Ravenor series, and the agri-corps (which Eisenhorn infiltrated) in the Eisenhorn series... incidentally, both involved in the Cold Trade.

It would make sense if Ultramar had an internet. It would explain how Marneus Calgar has so many books dedicated to him in the Chapter's records, each book being stated to be equivalent or greater than the deeds of the greatest Space Marine heroes or something. It's all fanfiction about him because, as Chapter Master, he's a big celebrity.

People wrote fanfic before there was an internet... they just left it buried at the bottom of a desk drawer, rather than putting it out there for all to see. On Ultramar, though, Marneus "Big Pimpin'" Calgar demands them as tithes from his subjects.
