Im still trying to figure out the thread title. Are you comparing these to the people that spend 20 years in jail that havent done it.

3-Strikes laws and mandatory minimum sentencing is one of the stupidest, most horrendous things about our legal system.

It's why we've got more people in prison, with less reason, than anywhere else in the world.
How could making a completely inflexible set of draconian rules that allow no room for context or actual situation EVER go wrong? I mean, look at what a smashing success the wave of school zero tolerance policies have been!

It's a reference to the thread on the guy who would have reported to prison but never got sent the instructions... for years.

Exactly. The fact that we have more prisoners than Russia, and even more prisoners than China, (including political prisoners), who has like a billion more people that we do, is probably an indication that we should reexamine some things.
