Thank you again Red__Thirst! I try to order all my warhammer stuff from the local toy store, They take arround the same price as GW does, But I realy want to support the store as they are the only place near here to buy Warhammer and Magic the Gathering, and the owners are super friendly and helpful. I do want plasma guns in my squads, So i'l probably get a few of those, Might proxy the flamer in the squad box as a plasma untill I can get real plasma models (My group isent very strict on proxying as long as you tell your opponent)

Sounds good Merellin, you're off to a good start.

Start with basic infantry needs, then expand to some more tanks and infantry.

I personally run all Veteran squads in my Vostroyan force. I like the thought of having a fairly elite force of veteran soldiers and the Vostroyan fluff fits that very nicely. My lists usually contain no fewer than four veteran squads and expands to as many as five or six veteran squads, all with the Grenadiers doctrine to make them at least a little more survivable (that and every Vostroyan mini has carapace or equivalent type armor on, it'd be a shame not to capitalize on that in my view ).

That said, you can field them as infantry platoons if you wish. Doing that will require a lot more of a monetary investment in the long run as the number of infantry per troops choice more than doubles, but if you've got the disposable income, it doesn't suck to have the option.

Hope that helps, best of luck!

Take it easy for now.

You don't know me son, so I'll explain this to you once: If I ever kill you, you'll be awake, you'll be facing me, and you'll be armed.

1. A piece of duct tape long enough to cover "Stars of the Military" [Direct Latin translation of Astra Militarum]
2. A black sharpee marker
3. Write "Imperial Guard" on duct tape.
/sarcasm off...kinda/

Yeah, I agree with everyone else. The defense force is a great buy. Past that, the kit that has a chimera and a squad of dudes is a good buy as well. My brother-in-law picked it up to restart his old guard army after having sold his off some two years ago.

Duct tape is a bit expensive isn't it? Masking tape would be so much better...

On topic, for those who don't know, Defence Force contains this
1x Chimera
1x Leman Russ
2x Infantry Squad
1x Command Squad
1x Heavy Weapons Squad

Also doing some maths, you can get 3 full vet squads out of the defence force, with a model spare (I made a priest out of mine)

...I reject your reality and substitute it with my own...

That's actually what happened, Horus is secretly a Tervigon.

Oh! One quick question, Dont have to awnser (I'l get the book soon enough, Either this paycheck or the next one) But, With Chenkov gone, Does this mean Send in the Next Wave is gone too? I realy thought that rule just seemed like fun, Having a unit, While bad, Still be big and able to respawn.. XD

Yep, at the moment it's gone.

On the bright side, conscripts are even cheaper now, and are super easy to get buffs for. For example, a 50 strong blob of conscripts and a priest to make them fearless, LD 7, and give them extra CC buffs is a mere 175pts. A commissar is the same price as the priest and will give you LD 9 and stubborn, which will make them almost impossible to shift and still let them go to ground and get orders. With LD 9, you could go to ground every turn to survive shooting, then order Get Back in the Fight when it comes back to your turn to have them stand back up and unleash a volley of lasfire.

You can also use them as meatshields for a techpriest. The conscripts bubblewrap your tanks and make it harder to kill the techpriest while he's repairing and handing out power of the machine spirit.

A final use is to give them a primaris pysker as a cheap body guard of sorts. You could try rolling on Biomancy to buff their toughness and abilities for assault, or go for Divination to make them more accurate and useful. This probably won't survive the transition to 7th though, so I wouldn't plan on it sticking around.

Alright, Thats a shame. But thank you for the info! ^_^ I'm realy looking forwards to starting my Vostroyan army ^_^ (Might use Valhallans as Conscripts..)

Hmm.. That is an idea.. Valhallans as Conscripts, And Vostroyans as regular Infantry and as Veterans.. Though perhaps Veterans should have diferent colored clothes.. Red for the regular ones.. But what color for the Veterans..?
I have two ideas, Either red clothes fro both, With Silvery armor for the regular guys, And gold/bronze armor for the veterans, Or red clothes for the regulars, and grey for the veterans..
