I know people have criticized for replies not actually concerning hws but if you have a fortification you can put the quad gun with a normal infantry squad. A quad gun puts out as many average hits as an entire hws armed with autocannons plus it gets interceptor and skyfire and the opponent needs to kill far more models and cant rely on ID st6+ weapons. All for 25pts less than a hws.

I find all the criticisms about not discussing HWS very funny.
Mainly because you all fail at context.
The OP is talking about adding HWTs to his blobs.
General Orange; HWTs in gunline blobs is basically a must. as for weapons choices, it depends on the rest of your army. If you have plenty of anti-tank, go with the heavy bolter and/or mortars. If you have plenty of anti-infantry, go with a lascannon.
Missile launchers and Auto-cannons are middle of the road versatile systems. Neither are all that great at any particular job, and I hold a personal prejudice against MISS-ile Launchers(too expensive and the temptation to add 2/3 their cost again for flakk missiles is too great when anti-air is lacking elsewhere).
Autocannons are pretty good for AV12 or < or against Multi-wound T3 models(Like enemy space army just about anything multi-wound, especially HWT/S). It can also be used to start throwing wounds onto MCs.
For Special Weapon Pairing:
Heavy Bolter/Mortar: Grenade Launcher, possibly Plasma
Lascannon: Plasma
Autocannon: Grenade launcher or Sniper Rifle.
I would also advise 3 squads Blobbed, and power weapons on the Sgts(just in case the opponent makes it to your line), then added Commissars with Power weapons(well, now Fists are an option).

I don't get the point to mix plasma and LC. Could you explain ?

Good range, High(ish) Strength, Same AP. out of all the imperial Special weapons, Lascannons Pair best with Plasma(this has been true since 3rd). Melta is too short range and should only be used on mobile units.

As a Tau player that's watched Autocannons bounce off of crisis suits, and Battle Cannons bounce off of Iridium Commanders, Lascannons are a good idea to have.

For infantry squads, I agree, taking a HW team with them is my first choice. I like autocannons paired with plasma as these combine with their stand lasrifle nicely. Plenty of shots and nothing wasted. Those squads configured like this brutalize elite, heavy and standard infantry. Its a matter of quantity.
If your list does not include lascannons elsewhere then, yes - put them in the infantry squad. You do need its firepower. I just think its a fraudulent waste of lasrifle ammunition and my commissars agree with me on this point.
I think the best place for lascannons in a guard army are with Vendettas and on AV14 hulls. Im also a fan of Hellhounds with hull mounted multi-meltas and meltagun CCS, PCS, vet squads in transports. I am building an armored sentinel squadron with lascannons as I think theyre good too, though I think testing them with autocannon's screening lascannon armed infantry squads might be my final resolution. If you put the lascannons in the squads, you have wasted firepower. If you put them outside the squads on thin skinned platforms like HW teams or on sentinels, you stand a good chance of losing serious firepower to first blood.
Make them pay for targeting your thin skinned units in order to get first blood by giving these units lower fire power like an AC and then screen your premium fire power infantry squads holding lascannons with these units. This way, sure they get first blood, but you have preserved your firepower.

And there is a something I didn't thought about, because first I thought having a hwt in a squad is wasting lasgun fire or wasting the hwt shot, but I remembered that the squad can get the order Smite at Will! (splitt fire). So by this way I can fire my lascannon for example at vehicles and the rest of the lasguns on nearby infantry without wasting anything. Is this supposition right ?

Correct, but you can only split fire with one model iir.
