The whole point of seizing the initiative is to give Tau an overwhelming advantage?

Recently, I played Daemons against a friend's Space Marines and neither of us had any Tau units whatsoever. But he seized the initiative which gave the non-existent Tau an overwhelming advantage. So really, that comment may be more accurate than you originally thought.

That post was in response to Markymark's post responding to my post about the huge advantage seizing the initiative

And that somehow means it's completely fair and balanced? Can I apply that logic to other things?

When you are deploying you HAVE to take into account that a Revenant Titan can wipe out 2 of your vital units. Thats why it exists. You deploy assuming that a Revenant Titan won't wipe out your 2 most vital units and it does... well thats on you.

Also, how does deploying while taking into account that a seize can happen negate the advantage of your opponent being able to both counter-deploy and get the first round of shooting?

if you go into a game against someone who has a Titan and you don't take that into account.. yeah it is on you. that said this isn't really compareable, stealing initative is just part of the game. you need to take it into consideration. and yes you need to accept that sometimes die rolls don't go your way. Seize the initative isn't something with dice where the rest of 40k is like chess. there's random elements prevalient throughout the game.
you roll the die to see if you hit something. you roll the die to see if you penatrate the armor. you roll tjhe die then to wound them. it's ALL RANDOM, yeah there's modifers (maybe seizing the initative should be opposed leadership tests on the part of the armies warlords?) but there's plenty of random chance in even the most basic game of warhammer 40k.. I'm sure somewhere out there someone's seen an Imperial guard squad kill an entire 10 man squad of terminators with their lasguns in a single turn of fire.
That's the beauty of the game really. you can do plenty of maximize your chances but sometimes someone gets lucky.

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two
