Mixed geneseed depends on the author. The author of Imperial Armour 10 suggested it was an all but unknown heretical practice, the Relictors Index Astartes article however stated that they were believed to have been created from a mix of Ultramarines and Dark Angels then went on to explain how the use of Dark Angels geneseed was highly unusual, but apparently felt the use of mixed geneseed itself wasn't unusual enough to say anything about. (they were also stated as having no known issues of mutation)

But there is a finite supply then? If one essentially gets massacred and they can't recover enough gene seed then it is possible for a chapter to be completely destroyed?

Yes, indeed. Happens fairly often. It's a Grim Galaxy of Perilous Adventure, after all.

what happened with the whole business of what Corax did after the Raven Guard were annihilated on Isstavan V? Did he just try to produce Marines too quickly or had a bad time with the replication of the gene-seed since he lost a lot of his legion that day.

He overstepped his bounds. The God-Emperor of Mankind was, in addition to being the most-powerful human psyker to ever live (possibly the most powerful psyker of any kind, bar none, to ever live), a brilliant strategist and devastating war-leader, he was also the World's Greatest Scientist, and invented gene-seed. Corax was not that good, and so messed it up something fierce, and got... what he got. Corax tried to do genetic science with an Eazy-Bake Oven.

The proces workt perfectly, but it was sabotaged by the Alpha legion.

It is always the Alpha Legion but this time they were working on the orders of the Cabal. I read up on it after Psienesis responded.

Mixing DA and ultrsmurf geneseed would probably be one of the safest sets to expermiment with as both geneseeds are highly stable and pure so there would be less chance of mutation. Or so i presume.

What happens when the Codex compliant Chapter had a very good century with extremely low casualties and a large batch of recruits?

Do they stop recruiting until they are understrength, or do they call the higher ups to arrange the founding of the new chapter with their surplus marines?

They stop recruiting until they are under-strength, assuming that the Scout Company is full.

The Space Marines themselves cannot request a new Founding (or, rather, they can, but no one will listen to them). This is done only by the Inquisition or the High Lords of Terra. Any involvement of a Space Marine Chapter is purely incidental to the process.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

The Space Marines will forever more just be tools of war to be wielded by the Imperial Lords.

That's all they ever were, even to the Emperor.

In storm of iron the imperial fists had quite a stockpile of Geneseed for their legion until hon sou took it to help with the 13th black crusade but he also kept some for himself suggesting that some legions keep a high number of geneseed

That is what Lexicanum says but it's wrong, the Imperial Fists merely answered the distress call, the facility and the stockpile belonged to the AdMech.
