No, standard badgers are actually normally grey with faces and grey 'masks' along their noses over their eyes.

The black badger with a white stripe down the back is a reference to the African Honey Badger, which has a much sleeker build than the normal European badger, is slightly smaller, and is infamous for fighting lions and highly venomous snakes and winning.

Just looking through the net now. I think for clarity (since in NZ badgers dont dwell) I will do them as chunky honey badgers that you see in cartoons. Although most I saw where more of a cream/grey colour and looked more like little bears.

They look very vicious too.

Oh, they are.

The honey badger is the famous one, but badgers are pretty common near where I grew up, and every child knows, you do not go near any large holes in the ground, because they are badger setts, and badgers, for all they're only the size of small dogs, will tear you apart if angered, and you will literally have to kill them to make them stop, and they will not realise they are dead for a good minute or so when you do.

Sheesh, and I thought Possum where bad. I guess I have to have some Badger victims on the base then. I will use circular bases for this.

Im liking the badger idea more and more.

I will do exactly that. Pretty good idea. I have never seen a badger before, are they only ever black and white?

Badgers look suspiciously like this 'cat' Furyou Miko was actually suggesting you paint the squad leader to look like this odoriferous animal.

Just make sure his rider is wearing a gas mask

He will have to suffer. Against regulation for my men to be out of proper uniform. The reason he is squad leader is simply because he can brave the stench

One day when GW allows a non unbound rough rider army I will mount some men on those lions for sure. I think it suits my army quite well.

Actually, I was suggesting Swas paint the squad leader like this absolute badass mustelid, as I stated previously.

Cool photoshop, Swas. :p

Doesn't the Death Korps list allow for a Rough Rider army?

Maybe they do?

I was gonna use their rough riders in place of the codex one.

And that colour may be easier to do actually.

Thanks for the compliment! Just had to make sure people could adequately visualize the concept

Its actually a pretty well done cutout. :p But to make it really shine, you could draw back in some of the badger's guard hairs in front of the Praetorian to blend him in a bit better, and desaturate his colours a bit.

I do this for a living funnily enough (well its how i got my job). Its what got me my job when 50+ year olds are amazed at anything i do on a computer haha. But if it where a professional thingy id have to actually change the light sources to make it no look "on top" or "floating" above the background.

But yea I didnt spend time on it. The trick is to make the original image see through so you know what to erase etc.

I second lions, from the High Elf chariot. Lions would go well thematically with a praetorian force.

Though if you wanted a one off joke one, a mobility scooter deathkorp, from the fact so many die and get injured on assults.

Even without legs you fight for empror

Funnily enough it would adequately represent the effectiveness of rough riders on the table...

I once had exactly the same set up. Except used shields instead of pistols for most of them.

Frightening Flamer of Tzeentch

You want a despairingly funny story about rough rider effectiveness? My friend outflanks 5 of them with 2 flamers and fires at a cultist squad with a dark apostle. Now, this dark apostle had the scrolls of magnus, and got the power that grants a 5++ save that if the save is made, the hits were conferred onto an enemy unit up to 6" away (6th ed rules). I made enough saves that 3 of the riders were killed and I still had a sizeable number of autoguns at my disposal, so the remainder was suitably gunned down the next turn those autoguns went on to do other ridiculous things, but I digress.

The badgers look cool, if only the unit had SOME extra durability (+1T and/or a 4+ save would help) and weren't so fragile, I'm sure more players would field/make awesome conversions flr rough riders.

That, and avoid the blunder my opponent made

I will make sure I know what my opponents cultists are equipped with before I target them with rough rider haha. Thats pretty funny though.

I think the death korps rough riders are more resilient. They have 6+ feel no pain and 2 wounds with a 4 plus save. Ans WS4. But they cost double the points of standard riders.

Don't have a link because I'm on my phone but the French company Blightwheel are doing large flightless birds for rough riders. Good trooper models on them as well.

Just ignore me. I was beaten to it over the page :(
