I'm planning on running 2-3 mobs of 5 burnas in trukks when i get the new roolz, add a little bit of burny-death to my trukk rush army. and if they die, they're cheap. if they don't die, they'll do some good damage...

I see it like this, too. All too often, we assess unit value in a vacuum. Looking at just about any ork unit on its own reveals at least one glaring vulnerability. But, when it comes to the romance of warfare, orks are hardly monogamous - they prefer every encounter to be an all-out orgy of violence.

The expectation shouldn't be getting all 10 trukks with MANZ missiles, Burnas, boyz, tankbustas and almost a dozen buggies across the table intact.

It should be delivering just enough of them to enjoy a proper krumpin'.

If you can figure out the best tactic and army composition to do that consistently, it won't matter how vulnerable any one unit happens to be.

I'd wager I could dispatch any kindergartner in hand-to-hand combat. They are small, uncoordinated and unskilled. Charge me with a dozen, though, and they'll crush me like a school cafeteria juice box.

But when issuing a challenge I was under the assumption as far as rules that you are simply issuing a challenge at the unit, not at a specific character. It is the 'challengeee' who decides who answers the challenge, whether thats a polite no or a brutal stab in the guts is their choice

That's correct, you can chose which of your characters answers the challenge. However, if no one answers, the challenger gets to pick a character which can't fight, which would then be the nob.

For that reason you have your mek fight the other units character, so your nob won't take wounds while he is busy murdering the character's unit with his powerklaw.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.
