Event Horizon and John Carpenter's the Thing.

While they are singing "what a friend we have in the greater good", we are bringing the pain!

My ex watched that more times than I've watched anything else, ever.

Totally agree with Alien, also. That movie scarred me for a looong time

And I loved the ending to The Mist! Definitely jaw-dropping.

Ju On murdered my brain for months after watching it the first time. It still creeps me right out. Any time something rubs together and makes that croaking sound I just get the chills.

So I watched "The Ruin" after it was put up here..

I just laughed a lot at it.

Two young American couples (Jeff and Amy, and Eric and Stacy) on vacation in Mexico make friends with a German tourist, Mathias, and decide to help him look for his brother, Heinrich. Heinrich had met a female archaeologist and followed her to an archaeological dig at a remote Mayan ruin in the jungle but has not been seen since. Dimitri, a friend of Mathias, joins the bus journey to the Mayan site using a crude map drawn by Heinrich.

Bad stuff happens at the ruins.

I am going to have to vote for Alien. I don;t generally watch pure horror movies, but Alien is a wonderful movie, mostly in my opinion for the cool sci-fi stuff, but that film is really scary. I have trouble watching the part where Parker and Lambert meet the Alien.

Thanks,
Duncan

Ever since becoming interested in Silent Hill, movies haven't become too scary for me... well... the ones I've seen anyway.

I saw a few clips of a movie called Hellraiser. Good god, those were terrifying.

I think the ones that get to me most aren't exactly movies, but videos from creepypasta. Sonic.EXE, Squidward's Suicide, and Candle Cove come to mind.

Alph and Sol, I said Jaws was a bore-fest for me. Tons of people were terrified, I was bored. I think I saw it when I was 13 or 14....I'm 29 now. The movie did absolutely nothing for me.

By the way, Jaws was a baby. My grandfather is friends with the guy Captain Quint was modeled after (he actually was designed off a sharker in Montauk), and the guy went out sharking the day after Jaws hit theaters. He found a school of Great Whites, and caught the baby of the group: it was two feet longer than Jaws.
TL;DR-they grow them bigger than Jaws.

The shark in the movie was supposed to be 25ft (Quints correction of the size when they see it on the boat). Average size of a Great White is about 13ft for males and 15ft for females. 20ft+ is uncommon. If he caught one that was 27ft long (2ft longer than Jaws) and considers it a baby... I'd question his sharking experience.

Sorry, after reading your response, I should have put "baby" in quotes. It was the smallest, I don't know it's actual age. To rephrase, the smallest shark in the school? Pod? Whatever...was two feet longer than Jaws. Hence "baby".

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Actually, what gets me most about The Ring today is the tape itself, it is still genuinely creepy and unsettling.

Worst Easter Egg Ever! Especially alone in a dark room in the wee hours of the morning after having just watched the movie. Damn near jumped outta my skin to get the DVD out of the player when it wouldn't stop.

I found the original scarier, Juon get's boring after while, Guinea Pig was freaky because they are like snuff movies, audition was scary, i found kairo very disturbing and uzemaki got my stomach in a knot.
Henry portrait of a serial killer because it was so realistically portrayed left me disturbed.

But the most scary movie i saw as a kid was a black and white movie were a witch was resurrected with blood and it was shoot in reverse, so you slowly saw the flesh return on the bones and and the eyes grow in the sockets, that scared me so much that i jumped back and hid behind the sofa.

Lots of Italian Horror movies have scary parts in it but never the whole movie.

Great whites don't tend to "school". They aren't "school sharks". They are more the moody loner shark. Who also can't see you when they have their mouth open (jaws bulge out and block eyes).

I refuse to watch the Exorcist ever again. I don't even care if every other movie that scared me as a child is now hilariously funny. Exorcist is too far.

Going to go put crucifixes all over my room now.

well since I'm usually up late, and alone, sinister got to me once I saw it. when I was younger I always told myself no one would kill me, I did nothing to anyone and was in the middle of a development ( I live close to some mountains that were a popular place for murdering others for about 2-3 years). Boom strangers came out, re watched it now and it seems silly, but it shook me pretty well
conjuring was freaky, not scary, just freaky

are you going to keep talking about it, or do something already?

Aww I forgot about the movie The Rite. All this Excorcist talk brought that back to mind. I saw it in the theaters back in 2011, I don't think i've been back since. I still can't watch it without almost soiling my pants.

One of my favorite films and it gives me the creeps is the Shining. Not particularly scary or horrifying, it's just the descent in to Jacks madness that makes me go wuaaaaa.

The twins scene always makes me feel a little like someone has walked over my grave.

The Ring

Since I am so weak, I haven't even bothered to watch very many scary/horror movies. Plus TorturePorn does not interest/amuse me.
