It might seem small but as I said the author of the article would not write "German U boat" but wrote "Hitler's U boat".

Here is every reference from the article to either the U-Boat, the German Navy, or the soldiers on board. They include a reference to the supreme commander of the armed forces (Hitler, therefore "his" boats), they make numerous references to Germany as a nation and that the boat was part of that nation, and there is one reference to the NSDAP.
I still fail to see this "politically correct" problem you appear to have a problem with.

The belief that there is political correctness out there and it must be fought is a brain eater. It turns ordinary, sensible people in to talkback radio callers, in to the kind of people who'd see a bit of poetic license like 'Hitler's U-boat' and think it was a deliberate plot to avoid saying it was a German weapon of war, even when the article directly states it was German elsewhere.
Sebster: The only Aussie in the world that doesn't enjoy a beach holiday? 
I live five minutes from the beach, have done so almost all of my life. The idea of taking a holiday purely to go to the beach is one of those odd things people in the rest of the world have to do... 
So yeah, leaving a house just next to the beach to go to a sand island and ride bikes from the beaches on one end to the other every single day for a week, while absolutely avoiding the shipwreck and coastal guns... only in Australia.
