If you want to use deff koptas it is worth scrounging on dakka and ebay for the plastic AOBR models. They are approximately infinity better than the metal ones you can get. No idea why they discontinued the plastic but that's the way to go

They probably figured out that putting the AOBR nobz and koptaz on the same sprue was a really stupid idea in retrospective.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

Burna boyz in a trukk can be devastating. Most of your opponents won't realize what a threat they actually are until you get them within in range, lay down one template and then proceed to roll 50 to-wound dice. 10 burnas in the trukk, hitting 5 guys = 50 hits.

BUT, make sure that the burna trukk is behind the boyz trukks. You can't put the burnas up front or else they will get all sorts of blowed up.

i stopped liking burnas when the whole "cannot wound out of range" change popped up midway through 6th. Yes thats 50 dice youre rolling, but unless you get a perfect drive-by along the side of your opponent's unit, its probably only going to torch ~7 models anyway.

I saw they went up to 16pts each and went "what? why? they needed help not a nerf lol" - i have never, ever thought about them in the new dex outside the minimal unit inside a 'naut or stompa for the meks, since in the event the naut or stompa blows/wrecks the random burna here and there can still cause some damage, whereas a couple random rokkits or snapfiring deffguns probably wont.

An ork with an idea tends to end with a bang.

now, the "cannot wound out of range" thing got worked around if you had a mek in the group with a mega-blasta, as that was a 24" range.

But actually I think 7th edition fixed that since each weapon fires on it's own and is resolved on it's own. Something that may be worth looking in to though.

That "work around" was entirely a play of works since it was obvious they intended it to not work for that specific gun, since it made 0 sense RAW. Then again, thats GW for you.

But you are correct, in fact i was shocked when i read that bit in the Shooting Phase of the 7th book. They actually worded it properly to prevent people from cheesing extra range, since now you literally fire each gun type individually INCLUDING the wounds and saving throws before firing another gun type. Much, MUCH better way to word it than the way that FAQ had it.

Thanks for the info. I think I will have a unit of Burma's in a red truck. I dont like that bs of 2 so I will go with Flanders.

It it rather sad because I love the army. But that bs 2 is discouraging me from getting units I really want, like flash gitz or looters.

Funnily enough, both the gits and lootas are quite alright, even with their BS2. Lootas just have so much dakka they're bound to hit with some of their shots. Flash gits have gitfindas (BS3 if they don't move) and they have the volume of fire to actually hit with some of their shots too. Give 'em a try and see if you like them!

Never realized that about the flash gitz! Cool maybe ill make a pirate themed army.

About bikes. Im starting to see a place with them within my grand vision of the horde. However at 50 bucks for 3 its a bit expensive to try and build a full unit. I heard that thr Nob box comes with 3 bikes. Is this true? If so do they end up looking like a bike mob? At 30$ for nobz it would be much cheaper to build a bike mob through them.

Sorry, no bikes in the Nobz box. Not sure where that came from. There are parts to make a nob in the warbikers box. They're a bit pricey, but three boxes is $150 and over 200 points once the bob is fully upgraded. Comparable to the dollars per points of most things in the army. But if you're looking for value Nobz are a great unit, dead 'ard and the models are cheap. As a bonus, they can be combined with the Flash Gitz to make pirate-themed Nobz, which of course I just finished building. AND IT IS AWESOME.

Hmm so I take it that orks are an expensive army to build? Sad face. Ah well. If I just. Build up slowly it won't be so bad, I'm just used to Tau, where, for the most part, you buy a box and its a full unit. I was told by the owner of my LGS who collects Orks, maybe in Canada its different?

Orks have always been an expensive army to build, and now are even worse since a lot of our stuff got cheaper (primarily bikers, koptas, and mek gunz).

Without those price cuts, you could field a strategy for a pretty decent price for GW's standards. Problem was that orks generally dont have variants in their lists, its all or nothing for most units, so if you want to shift a unit or two out guess what youre shifting ~600pts or more to bring a different unit, and that adds up in cost QUICK. My friend wanted to start orks but decided to go with space wolves because he got a good deal on them and he couldnt decide on a tactic to focus on for orks. For a 2000pt game, which is what we normally play, he couldnt find a list he liked for less than 700USD. This is of course coming from a player that has almost no kitbashing skills, so things like mek guns jack his price up very fast (another reason i urged him not to start orks lol you kinda need to know how to hobble things together to enjoy the army the most).

Only reason it doesnt phase me is because i trolled ebay when orks were "god awful" and nobody wanted them. I picked up so many cheap deals it was frightening. If i assembled everything and tried to run a legit list with them all i could probably push 9000pts lol....considering i have like 9 trukks 5 BW 5 Dakkajets a gakload of boyz/grots/lootas etc etc etc.

Ah! That is frightening. Currently a law student so cannot afford to much. I made a 4k list of taut for less than 500 bucks.

EBay for Orks seems to be stupid expensive, by comparison it would be much cheaper for me to build an Eldar army.

Thats how i got most of mine.

I found out not long after purchasing it that my biggest ebay deal was someone who wanted to get into the hobby, picked orks, bought 1250USD worth of them and THEN looked at the codex. Naturally, he got pissy it was so bad and immediately sold everything....still wrapped in factory sealing lol. I got it for 700 including shipping muhahahaha.

Also a couple various ~200USD worth tiny armies for like 80-100.

Mind you this is in old-dex, i havent even looked at ebay in awhile since i really, really do not need more orks (except stormboyz) lol

Orks can be cheap or expensive, depending on how you want to build your army. Kans are relatively cheap for their points, for example, while mek gunz are stupidly expensive for their points.

You'll find that orks do best on the tabletop by focusing on one or two things. If you take a little of everything you'll get pasted pretty badly by enemy shooting early on. If, for example, you bring lots of AV 13/14, you can generally overwhelm enemy heavy anti-tank fire by simply having too many things for them to kill before you make it across the table with something. Or hordes of boyz; two mobs is easy to wipe out, but six mobs is a much tougher prospect and you're bound to make it through with something.

So my advice would be pick a couple of units you like the look and the price of, and then build your army around that. Twelve kans and a morkanaut with KFF is almost a thousand points with upgrades and will cost you about $350. Throw in some trukk boyz and a big mek, and some grots to make up the troops requirement/camp backfield objectives, and you've got yourself a decent army with ~1,500 points for $500-$600 or so. (I put it at 1,505 points for $545 with 12 kans, a trukk boyz mob, a grotz mob, a morkanaut, and a big mek with Shokk Attack Gun, and 10 Nobz).

The ork mek mob is actually a steal, it's $165 and if you add everything up you're basically getting the trukk boyz for free compared with buying it all separately.

Yea the mekmob has all stuff I want and need. So I will picking one up this weekend along with a dakka jet since my friend is going to be bringing the new space wolf flier. I wish they sold single meganobz since I want the full 10. By the way.... can I put 10 or 20 meganobz in a battle wagon? I feel like they should take up more space but it does not specify anywhere that can see.

Mega armor gives the bulky special rule, so they count as two

Hmm. Ok so if I want to put a kill Kannon on my battle wagon that means only 6 m eganobz?

I am debating on making a big Mek in mega armor as well as a war boss in mega armor. Should I do a squad of 8/1/1?

Or would my war boss be better on a war bike?

My planned army is:

Some combination of boyz and Gretchen.with all boyz in truks

X8/9 m eganobz
X1 big mek in power armour 2 with scorchas the rest with kill saws

X10 nobz potentially on bikes with big choppas (where I would put my war boss)
X15 (or 1 full squad dont have book with me) of bikers
X1 Dakka jet
X1 Burna Bomba
X6 kill Kanz with grotzookas
X1 Deff Dread with scorcha
x1 gorkanaught

Automatically Appended Next Post:
The m eganobz would be in a battle wagon.
