I suppose the wall behind him collapses to block LOS again but what happens when another guy punches through .

Well it is an abstract ruleset, so it is far from perfect, that is just one of those compromises that need to be made to make the game playable without destroying your terrain.

Though I suppose terrain made out of leggos would help with that.

Vanished Completely

I thought 'self-repairing impromptu doors created by Space Marines' was a design feature of Imperial of Man construction.

Or perhaps they are just polite and put the wall back up as they enter .

I wouldn't disagree that s space marine could plow through that wall, the problem is there would be a hole after... If you go the other way, I don't see why a demolisher shell couldn't level the entire terrain piece, and yet if a marine was behind that wall, I couldn't even target him.

We play the game with omniscience, there is no surprise other than the luck of rolls. The path models can take should be obvious to both sides, not hyper abstract in the extreme. I'm fine with the fact that units can only target other units and not terrain features, similarly I'm fine that terrain features are essentially indestructible regardless of what happens over the course of the game, with that said, it really bothers me when entire units can phase through walls like they're wraiths. It's like a no clipping hack in a first person shooter.

Remember the game is abstract, you cannot apply real world logic to it.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Personally i say just make "realistic" terrain data sheets that determine what you can and cant do and call it a day.... (aka them ruins walls are impassible, but you can go through the windows and doors.)

Yeah, this is exactly how I've always played as well.

If it fits it fits, if it doesn't, go around.

Perhaps its due to the area DR and I am from, but everyone, as far back as I can remember has always played that models can walk through ruins. I think it was explicitly said in previous editions if not the current one. Its not an oversight, it just an abstract interaction of the game.

I've never encountered anyone who tried to be a move inside a hill though. That's new to me.
