If you want to see a proper mini's event, have a look at one of the games club ones in your area, or wait and go to Salute in London. You'll get to see loads of demo games, participation games, sneak peaks, access to design staff and management, and usually good deals. Unfortunately I think only Salute has an official GW presence (FW) but there's a whole extra world of gaming out there, and it's quite eye opening compared to what GW do.

Salute also has one of the best painting contests, since it is not just limited to GW minis, and really brings out painters' creativity...
in the US, GenCon and Adepticon are amazing, as well...

i'm not saying that a GW event like Warhammerfest (Games Day) is the best thing ever...
i'm just explaining why i personally have always enjoyed the past events...
i get why gamers are upset...
i just don't happen to be a gamer, or hyper-critical...

I'm getting the exclusive space marine figure from a buddy. While I would not pay to go there for 1 mini I think its a cool idea.

hey, to each their own...
Games Day 2000 in the UK was a great event, and probably the peak of what you all are pining for...
remember the footage running all day for the BloodQuest movie that never ended up getting finished???

things is, you can't go back to that time, and i am not much for nostalgia...
things change...

if people want to be pessimistic about the future, that's their choice...
i for one choose to enjoy the positive things, and not be bothered by other people's negativity...

i'm off to paint some minis now, and enjoy myself...

cheers

If you think my comment was suppose to be a dig it wasn't my intent, just how I see GW is acting. I am not trying to be pessimistic. If you thought I was trying to knock on you or make a negative comment, that wasn't my intent. If it came out like that, I am sorry. Just was trying to show how I see GW acts from their behaviour. Sorry if you think I was harping on you. I wasn't.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

Auticus wrote: Or in summation: its ok to exploit shoddy points because those are rules and gamers exist to find rules loopholes (they are still "legal"), but if the same force can be composed without structure, it emotionally feels "wrong".
