Forge World Bulletin #44
Forge World has produced a huge number of tanks and armoured vehicles over the years, from the small, but perfectly formed, Cyclops Demolition Vehicle and Grot Tanks to the Super-heavy Shadowsword, Malcador and Praetor Armoured Assault Launcher. I got a glimpse of a new behemoth last week and it looks earth-shatteringly powerful! I’m reliably informed that we’ll be seeing it in all its glory at the Horus Heresy Weekender.



Something heavily armed and armoured will soon be rolling out of the Forge World Studio.

Speaking of armoured vehicles, Mark Bedford has started work on a new force that already contains a few. Mark is working on a joint Solar Auxilia and Questoris Knight army hailing from the Five Hundred Worlds of Ultramar. So far he’s completed a Solar Auxilia Dracosan Armoured Transport and a Questoris Knight Errant, and he’ll be adding more soon.

The Deredeo pattern Dreadnought is a dedicated heavy support frame, though it shares many core components and systems with the more general assault-based Contemptor class. Initially deployed in limited numbers to each of the Legions due to difficulties in its manufacture, its durability and firepower saw demand for the Deredeo pattern dramatically increase after the outbreak of the Horus Heresy.

Mounted onto the carapace of the Deredeo pattern Dreadnought, the Aiolos missile launcher which, with its sophisticated targeting system, can track targets independently of the primary weapons system and regardless of intervening terrain.

One of the primary weapon systems the Deredeo can mount is the twin-linked Anvilus autocannon battery, a fearsome development of the autocannon that can engage and destroy armoured targets with a punishing salvo of fire.

That's someone's personal attempt at creating a 3d model of the warlord that they could 3D print for Epic: Armageddon. This isn't official at all

In book 4 they talk about a nemisis titan that has 4 reaver weapon mounts and two carapace mounts, some troop space, so still very potent. I would expect the warlord to be the nemisis so they can still keep the size managable for a large (8x4 or 10x4) table. The stormbird seems to have been downsized from the fluff, as has the new giant ray gun (its the smaller one not the larger one).

It's listed as £126 for three quad launchers and three crew sets, that's 3x£23 and 3x£12 which is £105, only noticed because it's one I actually want the bundle, looks like it's email time.

In IA-12, the crew are listed as Engineers (which gives the Rapier BS 4).

I've tried assembling rapiers with Engineer crewmen, the only useable miniature being one of the two mole launcher crewmen and it didn't look that great.

On my second attempt, I created crewmembers from the "Heavy Artillery Crew" kit. In this set, you have 3 upright miniatures, ideal for standing on the platform behind the console, and a selection of empty arms.

In my experience the "Heavy Artillery Crew" set is much better suited for creating the Rapier shooters, than the "Thudd Gun crew".

First encountered during the Battle of Ithraca amidst the catastrophe on Calth, the twisted form of the Mhara Gal Tainted Dreadnought is terrifying in both its aspect and its unearthly power. The first Mhara Gal is believed to have been created from the barely living remains of a Gal Vorbak Dark Brethren and a battle-shattered Contemptor Dreadnought chassis, both recovered from the blood-soaked ground of Isstvan V. Fused together by unholy practices, they were then corrupted by a warp-borne power, giving birth to a new monstrosity – a living engine of war and hatred.

The Word Bearers Mhara Gal Tainted Dreadnought is a fearsome opponent in battle. Wielding a warpfire plasma cannon and tainted power claw, it is formidable both at range and in close combat, its blows slicing through armour and energy fields alike.
