I think White Wolf would have a conniption.

I don't think they were the first to do that, but it probably wouldn't stop them. I'm assuming we are referring to Cain from the bible and not Kain from the Legacy of Kain series, which I don't think has been done by White Wolf, and would certainly be a twist if it the movie were connected to the game.

It would appear to me that they are trying to go for more of the Vlad Tepes route, whom, at one point was lauded heavily by the Catholic church as a Defender of the Faith. He had a couple pretty "amazing" victories against invading Turkish/Muslim armies (mostly by using the terrain to his advantage... sort of a Spartan situation, where he used terrain to negate the enemy's superior numbers) eventually, as more and more and more word got to Rome and the Pope (and others) of his deeds in regards to muslim prisoners, criminals, or anyone who pissed him off, they began to turn their backs to him, shun him and outright denounce him; He was known, afterall as Vlad the Impaler for a reason So perhaps they aren't going so much for a "good guy turned bad by too much power" as "guy defending his lands/himself gains ultimate weapon over enemy, turns from a twisted evil man, into a twisted evil monster" type story.

Hmmm Really

Lets do a quick google search.

Budget $190 million[2]

I think under a half a billion is probably pretty damn good.

Not when you consider that the studio will probably only make about half of that money from domestic sales, and a third or less from overseas.

I'm on board for this. I like the idea of tying the character Dracula was based on into the vampire mythos, especially since he doesn't look to be super romanticized.

It looks like his sire is 'Caligula'

No, vampires were kinda cool for a while and werewolves were a bit lame. Then WtA (Werewolf the Apocalypse) happened and Werewolves became awesome as hell. Then Twilight happened and Vampires were terrible.

Well to be fair, the werewolves in Twilight are technically just shape shifters. The wolf is just a coincidence

Because nothing says go feth yourself like writing terrible werewolves and then telling your readers "oh but they're not werewolves" In an off handed comment two books later

Those are druids not werewolves. Werewolves are half men half wolf.

Yeah, in Twilight Jacob and them are actually spirit enabled Shape Shifters to defend the tribe from Vampires. It was stated that a real Werewolf would rip apart a group of vampires by himse-

Nevermind. I don't know this information, I've never read the books.

Are there instances of a real werewolf going to town on a bunch of sparklies? That would make me happy.

It's okay Slarg. We've all seen things we regret, but

That said, I wouldn't have minded seeing her actual werewolves. Her actual werewolves sounded pretty damn awesome (probably why they never showed up, can't have anything cool ruining the mediocrity )

It's heavily implied that one of the Volturi (the strongest vampires in Twilight) lost his wife to a werewolf and that the Volturi as a group are scared shitless by the thought of facing even one werewolf, which is why they kind of lost their gak for a moment in the last book when they came face to face with over a dozen shape shifters in wolf form (until they realized they weren't real werewolves).

i read twilight...
yeah, the werewolves in twilight were actually just Cherokee spirit people, but yeah, one of the big bad vampires had had bad experiences with real werewolves and they pretty well pooped when the pseudo-werewolves appeared. which tells us the actual werewolves were actually awesome. unfortunately, no one knows this, and the fake-wolves have become the basis and overwritten the actual badassery of werewolves.

Her werewolves sound cool, but yet again all werewolves can be cool if done right.

When I think a werewolf I think of the dark and huge wolf like men. That would tear to me to pieces if I got near them.

It reminds me of this character I wrote where he just wakes up as a wolf, and just wants to hunt everything and comes across a fair maiden... She starts singing and dancing, he was perplexed by her, but her smile remained for far too long. So He rushed her.
And ripped her throat out.

Wolves can be quite awesome if done right...

I might have werewolves in my book, and hell my book is probably better than stephine meyer, probably because I actually consider many things. And that and I actually proof read and have read other books. And I just want to tell a story, not a fantasy.

This whole talk of werewolves makes me thing that we need to do one of those Vs. threads....Of course, because it's bloodsuckers vs. hairy dog-people there's a TON to argue..

I mean, does a 30 days of night vampire pack really have any punch? Would Akasha (Queen of the Damned) destroy all the werewolves without a second thought, or chance for puppy survival?

It'd probably turn ugly pretty quick though

Do you know why Werewolves are as enduring and awe-inspiring as they are?

The original concept of Werewolves was established as a sort of inner reflection of human nature, as are almost all classical monsters; the Wolf-Man was designed to be a reflection on the fact that anyone you know, anyone you trust was fully capable of unleashing said "Beast Within" at a moments notice. Were-Wolves are a closer look at mankinds ability to fly into a psychotic rage for no reason.

If you want good werewolves try the ones from the Patricia Briggs novels, the series about Mercy Thompson (who is a shapeshifter coyote), and the spin off that's just about the wolves of the local pack.

Other than one sequence, they mostly just turn into giant wolves, but they have all the other awesome characteristics of werewolves, even when in human form. It's likely the Alpha of the greater American pack could kill all of the Cullins by himself, seeing as in the book world he inspired all the the traditional Werewolf lore when terrorizing England back in the middle ages.

Werewolves are so much better than vampires. Vampires are just supernatural serial killers.

Not true; Like Werewolves, Vampires were created as a representation of some part of the nature of humans. Vampires were seen as a personification of Man's ability and even willingness to sacrifice others for his own good. Vampires were the OG 1%

And now you know why we see 20 Bazillion Vampire movies rather than Werewolf/Frankenstein.
