Not necessarily directed at you, Ogre, or anyone in particular, but a general question:

Am I the only person on earth who had basically zero problems using Windows Vista? Granted I never was really trying to do anything super-complicated, but still.

Windows 10 looks... eh. I'll use it when I have to, but I'm fine with Windows 7 for now.

Probably work

Vista wasn't bad until I tried copying files, and then comparing game performance with XP, and then still trying to play all those IPX games I occasionally still liked playing.

I'm actually using Vista now. This laptop came with it, and I never bothered to change it. It has been a lot more stable than my laptops running XP and 7 (oddly). I tried Windows 8, but I actually ended up having to pin the the task manager to the task-bar because stuff crashed so frequently. I don't mind Vista, it just feels like every other Windows.

If all your other windows experiences involve things crashing all the time, I'd say it's the only one that DOESN'T feel like windows.

I'm a Vista certified technician and I did a lot of deployments. I used Vista personally without issue until 7's beta, and saw it have tons of issues professionally. In my anecdotal experience, Microsoft was too optimistic on the system requirements: at launch it was impossible to have a positive user experience with 1gb of ram.

Windows 7 was, of course, far superior.

Macintosh users have been calling executable programs "applications" since the late 1980s.

Anyway, MS missed a trick on this. For maximum marketing impact they should have gone straight to 11

Good news. Is it definate that Win 8 users can upgrade for free? As a related question if you buy an upgrade version of Windows 8 what happens if you need to do a clean re-install? Do you have to install both versions again?
