I might be able to come close to that. I used to run all infantry in tourneys. Well Actually I could cause the tourneys were 1850 and I only took a handfull of transports. Never won but players were always impressed by the number of heavy weapons I brought to bear.

Now most of the "guys" just hang around in the cases and a whole case full of guys has come up missing. Was too much of a hassle setting up and moving from table to table. Not to mention it was kinda a one trick pony army. bad part was, when I started painting them (got the apoc deal for infantry when it first came out), I started painting each guy to character level and after starting and finding out how much it took to do that, I couldnt bring myself to lower the standard for the rest of them and stuck it out.

Hah! The main reason why I want footguard is to complement my ravenwing army, Couple of landspeeders, bikers, attack bikes. Nothing above yet.

Uhmmm, no. The whole point of guard is to use as many lasguns as possible. Also, why is is bad? You get a Cadian armored fist, LRBT, CCS/PCS and a HWT plus an extra guard squad!

If you want the Chimera and LRBT, that a good deal, and you should get the box.
But, as you said you wanted to expand your footguard army, I expected you really only wanted the troop models.
For £97, you could get:
2x CCS (for the bits),
1x HWS (3-base),
7x Cadian 5-man pack,
That's 45 bodies, and 3 HWT bases.

If you wanted Chimeras or LRBT, get the Defence Force.

My footguard is more hold the line really. Just pounding whatever comes too close whilst allowing by bikers to whizz around uncontested.

Why use shotgun instead of lasgun? The only pro is the assault type, in all other aspects it's inferior. While maybe an assault blob could benefit from it, I just don't see making like 50 models with shotguns worth it.
