doctor_g, they are not using celebrity names/etc to sell their product any more than Sedition Wars/Zombicide/etc did. Parody characters are a great way to move a product, especially one that is catered to film junkies. They are using the Lee Brothers with permission and the rest are parody characters with changed names and only similar likeness.

Pretty much every other kicktarter with parody characters went smoothly, raised great funding numbers, and did so without lawsuits (zombicide Nick's miniature and artwork... or shall I say Bruce Willis in a famous pose). I wouldn't be so negative or paranoid...

Why the hate for this one, leave the game and us backers alone please???

Not to speak for anyone else, but I think a major difference here is that this KS is already built on the license of an image. So, there's certainly a hefty amount of hypocrisy to use other people's likenesses when the Lee's require a contract for their own.

Plus, there were and are people that question the use of likenesses on any and all game designs, whether its this one, Sedition Wars, Zombicide, any number of "-Ball" games or whatever.

And now the total's passed $60K, which means:

- Prequel scenario for one of the main characters (Viktoria) is added to the $100 pledge, possibly the $45 one as well.

- Jackie Chan is added to the $100 pledge. Yes, I really think they need to do something about the 'artwork' for that one!

Also, $25 expansion add-on! Hopefully will contain a decent amount of content scenarios-wise, I shall probe them on this. And ask them to proof-read their graphics a bit more carefully...

Final 48 hours!

...and we're essentially at 75K now, which means the Jackie Chan and Van Damme are locked in, and the Level 99 games, Greater Than games (Sentinels of the multiverse) and Sodapop models are available as add-ons.

I found this comment to be...refereshingly direct:

Oh no, I don't like the art for Candy. I just love the short hair, the small animal (Cola) and huge breasts on original SodaPop Candy (I say this as a woman). Not the one that was with her story and is on the cards now. Which one will she look like in real? Will the mini have huge breasts, short hair and Cola or long hair, normal breast and no cola? Because, quite frankly, I have a lot of normal women mini but the bazingas were why I pledged extra $ for Candy...

It's true! Where are all of the wasp-waisted, giant-chested female miniatures that people crave? I've had it up to here with all those sensibly-dressed and proportioned characters that are flooding the marketplace.

Projects that have a "Core Game" level and then a Core Game + Stretch goals level. IMO, your "base" level should be the level that includes stretch goals, and should not be 50% greater cost than the game is actually going to cost at retail. I'm not a huge fan of having to pay for the "privilege" of getting the stretch goals.

Those just don't sound like "stretch goals" to me; they sound like paid add ons.
I do typically feel the same way and kind have been torn between indecision. There has however been some sufficient unlocks that makes take advantage of the different pledge levels and price increase. I find it interesting that they gave an additional $5 off some of the miniature add-ons if you did the higher pledge. After looking at it more closely, given the pricing of the other items and the revamp to their stretch goals the pledge levels seem more plausible.

Steel Mantis Pledge $45 - Base game with 8 miniatures (no stretch goals): Bruce Lee, Brandon Lee, Viktoria Jovovich, Luke Elba, Goliath, Ivan Castle, Tiger Ip, Train Wong

Jade Dragon Pledge $100 - Base game, expansion and 5 new scenes with 33 miniatures (with stretch goals): Bruce Lee, Brandon Lee, Viktoria Jovovich, Luke Elba, Goliath, Ivan Castle, Tiger Ip, Train Wong, Blackbird, Cindy Fairchild, 21x Henchmen, Muscles Hawk, Lion Sloane. - Note: It is interesting that are some additional add-on miniatures, which you can get for $5 cheaper per if you are pledged this level.

Tempted here, but I think it won't become a 'must have' until quite a few of the special characters are unlocked.

Maybe around $80K to $100K?

But, can it get that high?
They re-arranged their stretch goals if you haven't checked it recently. 46 hours left to go and they are at $74k with some decent unlocks. I did like some of the choices they re-arranged them around with.

There are and will always be people that question likenesses, unfortunately in this case given the theme they are typically covered under parody protection.

The reply was "Don't worry, Candy will be her more recognized version on the original cards. Of course if we get to $105k, you'll have a lot more eye candy (pun intended) to look at "

The only thing I really don't like is the <Note: Shipping to be added after the end of the campaign>. Considering I'm only interesting in getting Candy and Cherri, this may translate in one nasty surprise with a shipping cost bigger than the 2 minis.

Yeah, I won't be backing this one, even though I would like a Candy.

They've yet to deliver a single one of their KS projects. That just doesn't sit super well with me.

That's what's making me hesitate here as well.

(Combined with a seriously stretched and stressed gaming budget + the holidays!)

No doubt that it's going to be seen as a risk - it does seem silly to have so many things up in the air at once. I'm confident that they have sorted out manufacturing for their plastics at least, now that they have production models from their first project, and the licensing *should* hold them to a somewhat tighter schedule.

I imagine that the story of the licensing worked similarly to Mantic and Mars Attacks - the opportunity came up, and they wanted to jump on it, irrespective of any giant projects they already had in the pipeline!

We're in the last 8 hours now, and have Chuck Norris unlocked for free, and look to be on track for besuited Psychopath as well. Add ons include Zhi Lan the Purifier from Journey: Wrath of Demons. The one character in that game with a cleavage window...

Hope we can get those alternate henchmen sculpts! If nothing else, 30mm miniatures are sorely lacking in Kung Fu mooks.

...and not that this is news to anybody who did back (and not that anyone will particularly care if they didn't), but this ended up funding the 3 unique henchmen sculpts in the box of 21. And maaaybe the greater card art variety if they allow post-KS add-ons to contribute.

Although we'll of course need to see the final result, I think the box of 21 henchmen for $20 is one of the best deals in the Kickstarter now - even if it's more at retail, this will be an excellent way of populating Martial Arts/pulp RPGs.
