Well the board game plastic is just going to be yet another formulation of PVC but its not the same as the previous restic models. I do think these are a bit different again to MA although the colours might have something to do with that. I think the fact that they went with the same grey confuses things it would have been nice to get coloured plastic orange for convicts and red or light blue for Kalyshi. The mold lines are far better now and cut away easier. I did notice while I was cleaning them that the plastic has a slightly waxy smell when cut which I never got from the earlier restic.

The Boardgame plastics still have the puzzle piece connectors as can be seen on the Grogan Keeper but given most minis will be preassembled in future you won't really see it plus it must make assembly at the factory easier if the parts only fit one way.

Nope that's it the lids just sit there not a great design unfortunately (but the rest of the crate is great and I'm glad I got a few extra packs which will have the lids permanently attached for other games ) they are likely to fall off in game, you might want to blu-tac them in game . I wonder if they will hold a bit better once painted?

Ah so they do thanks for that (they are a bit crooked alright but it's better than the alternative)

So am I the only one who's Dreadball figures don't fit snug in those clear bases?

Seems strange.

They've never fit properly for me either. They were originally designed to clip in but they didn't take account of restic shrinkage on the integrated bases the only choice left is to permanently glue them or use something temporary to hold them like blu-tac which is what I do.

Dreadball Mutants and possibly Ada Lorena in the clear blue (bagged) from the blog. They kept the over sized torso look from DZ but looks like lots of conversion potential in the bits.

It was an add on in resin

The blog post that announced the change just said early 2015. I'd be surprised if it is January with DBX wave 2 and 2 PMs to do (plus DZ wave 3 to finish) but they need to get it out early enough to deliver before the Warpath KS which could be year end as they will want any hard plastic troops finished before then.

See, I thought it was a generic "early 2015" too, but last time it came up a number of Dakka members were adamant it was January.

As far as I can recall KoW2 was originally planned to be January as it was to be a mini KS but swapped places with DZ Infestation at people's request as it was so close to Christmas so I guess the assumption is/was that DZ would be January instead but that changed to latter part of the planned KS window (for early 2015) in the blog post.

small snippet on today's blog

..... Mars Attacks gets the rules to turn it from a skirmish game into a tabletop wargame (available free online!) and we will have the free intro rules for Deadzone out in a few weeks, with a new race later in the year…

It's probably got to the point that they are paying so much in shipping to correct errors that it would be cheaper to hire a few extra bodies and get it right first time.

Even the bases problem with wave 3 will cost them a fair bit to correct if everyone claims them.

That said I have never had a single mispack in any Mantic delivery and my first Deadzone delivery was huge. They can get it right just not enough of the time it seems.

Does anyone else think the Enforcer rifles and heavy lasers look a lot like the Samaritan equivalents from Sedition Wars? Were they sculpted by the same person?

Same concept artist Roberto Cirillo did both the Enforcers and the Samaritan designs so I guess he has a style that he uses regardess of the range.

Mine arrived today. All present and correct I must have got a later packing as there are 5 extra 40mm bases which corresponds to the 5 extra Peacekeepers I ordered in wave 3. The hard plastics look great.

Forgeguard go on 25mm bases.

The medic is a separate complete PVC miniature the sergeant is on the plastic sprue (but you could probably use the parts to make a medic just paint it differently)

I ordered the Medic and got him in wave 2 and as he is packaged with the shields/shotguns I got them as a bonus.

He's in the restic bag, but there's also a big backpack and the little buzzsaw thing for the medic on the plastic sprue.

Neither of which belong to a medic but you could use them for that purpose along some spare packs. The energy gauntlet (fist) is for the sergeant, the tank backpack is for the incinerator.

So something like $4.50 for 50 bases? 10 bases a dollar? That's a bit better than the $15 for 100 I think I remember paying to litko... But I wonder how clear they are? Are they gonna be as crystal clear as proper acrylics? Sounds like a good alternative, especially for UK/EU and so on. No dice for me though unless they're also only 1.5mm thick, if they're 'standard' gw size, too thick for my liking.

Huh it even says slightly textured underside... while potentially useful, now I really wonder how transparent those will be..

The regular bases have a texture on one side and are plain on the other so I'd say they used the same molds and ran a clear plastic through them. I have a load of regular Renedra bases in various sizes (they make good inserts for round lip bases) but I prefer laser cut acrylic for clear bases so I'd pay slightly more for them also Renedra bases are very thin no more than 2mm thick

I believe the Ada Lorena and Cystallans are to share a mold for production so they can be cast in a coloured clear plastic they are wave 3 so haven't been tooled/finished yet. It appears that as the MVPs have been finished before the teams so they put them in a mold with the other MVPs and cast the lot in grey plastic which is a pity as they should of held those two back for wave 3

It's confirmed in the comments that the picture is of someone's wave 2 delivery they came from a Facebook post so the 2 MVPs are definitely grey plastic

DBX wave 2 arrived all present and correct the casts are very nice possibly the best Mantic have done yet only Brute Force looks a little skinny from shrinkage but her mech sort of compensates for that. I ended up with 2 Graks I bought 1 as he was added to Fenzy level only (backed Rampage) but there is 1 in with the MVPs pack so it looks like every one gets one now. The other is DZ conversion fodder I guess .

I think some will be disappointed with the size of the Tsudochan - they are zee sized - they didn't look that small in the renders. On the other hand Kryphos has me rethinking not getting the Koris.

Ada-Lorena team preview

As you can see, this see-through blue plastic miniature has had a little paint and a wash added to allow you to see the detail in the photography.

There's an interview with Chris Palmer in Ironwatch 30 of note:

Q: Are there any co-operations with other companies planned (like Miniatures scenery or Dreamforge Games)?

A: oh Yes!

Those prices seem pretty darned good to me. - It doesn't just include the medic, of course, but the shotgun arms too.

Missed the defender parts thanks added now. Makes sense as they are in the same bag as the medic.

The KS equivalent price for army deal was $78 just for reference s a saving of $1.99!

I edited that figure up as I miscalculated on the Enforcers at $10 for 10 rather than $10 for 5.

It wouldn't surprise me to see Striders, Stuntbots etc. get re written in the next Warpath to individual model units, Stuntbots in particular are too expensive price wise to field in units of 3 and they have said recently (in Ironwatch #30) that they don't sell enough to justify plastic.
