Mr. S Baldrick wrote:That is my point, there are lots of people that have spent lots of money on this game, but you can't use them all at once. Make some different builds try different things. Also try talking to your TO or store owner about a non OP "Dreadnought Night", that is what one of my TOs is doing. The store even said he could give out extra OP stuff as prizes.
Also I never said Double Sphere was the only borg build now. YOU said all of your borg stuff is now worthless, I was merely pointing out one possible build that can do well. That particular build does not "suck" though it came in 2nd at 2 of the regionals, going up against very cheesy Weyoun Cubes and Voyagernaughts.
In the end these rules are optional, but if WK starts to use them in regional matches they will become more popular. Maybe after a few OPs you group will decide to abandon them or maybe you will start to like them. However now every ship in every faction is a viable option, maybe not the best, but viable. In the end every ship you own is still usable, just not all at one time. Constantly complaining about only raises your blood pressure and it's not worth it to stress out over a game.
You can have a 3 ship minimum, but the 50 point max per ship is quite arbitrary... the 3 ship requirement deters dreadnought builds quite fine enough.
A Fun list, the one I just posted, would be illegal because the Scimitar is 8 points over. But it still has three ships.
Scimitar – 38 points
Shinzon – 6 points
Reman Boarding Party – 4 points
Thalaron Weapon – 10 points
Ship SP – 58 points
Gor Portas – 26 points
Gul Dukat – 5 points
Energy Dissipator – 5 points
EM Pulse – 4 points
Ship SP – 40 points
RIS Vo – 16 points
Donatra – 4 points
Ship SP – 20 points
Why should this build be illegal? I quite like the Scimitar, however, the 50 point cap hinders it entirely.

Yes back to the Scimitar!
I am really curious to see if the generic drops a tech or a weapon. The named and a generic mwith interphase generator and polarized hull plating coild be fun. I am already trying to think of ways to deck out 2 for my RiF2 list.

If it follows most generics it drops a shield, special ability, and 2 points. But then again this is an unique ship as far as I know. I like it and can have a lot of fun playing around with it.

All of the generics drop something from the upgrade bar as well.

My guess would be the tech slot because they usually drop the useful one!

Never know, they could pull an Ent-E on us again and drop a Tech AND a weapons slot. (it's got 2 and 2, right? )

I keep threatening my meta that I'm going to play Borg so I can start winning some games.
Nah, never happen. I'm not going to jump on that bandwagon. Got a player in my group that agrees 100% that the Borg are broken and have ruined STAW, yet he plays them in every OP. When I asked why, his reply "I want to win".
I've never used a Fednaught, never played Borg, and I don't own the prize ships to enable me to play the cards that I need to win against the Borg. So, for me, I make the fleets I like, and play the best I can, but have no illusions about my performance vs. others that play those "power builds".
But hey- back to the Scimitar. I like it. It's not the Second Coming ship that I feared the Romulans would get, and has been stated in a few other forums- would be a fantastic ship if their were no Borg. Hey! Didn't we see the same thing said about Chang's Bird of Prey and the ISS Defiant? It's a bit sad that the Romulans finally get a Dreadnaught when Wizkids are "suggesting" that you not use Dreadnaughts.
A wicked combo that was pointed out to me- Attack Pattern Shinzon Theta and Kahn. Or Drex, or anything else that let's you convert hits into crits. Can you imagine using Thalaron Weapon and Attack Pattern Shinzon Theta? ALL the Elite Talents in this set have a use. My favorite? Full Stop. Anyone that has every faced the new Borg mines, or had someone that made a left turn when you were expecting a right turn, or suddenly there is a ship/obstacle/planet in front of you and you NEED to take your action this turn... yeah, it's an "Aw crap!" card, but it will get you out of trouble when you need it. Yes, a good player would never need such a thing, but hey! I'd take it.
This ship just seems to scream "Use the Reinforcement Sideboard, fool!" The tease about the Admiral and his ability to aid with attacking... please, please let it be some kind of action economy! A ship like this with just one action is a HUGE disappointment. Shinzon's ability is nice, but discarding the rest of the cards... ugh. Think about this though- Shinzon and the Reinforcement Sideboard give you a LOT of options during a tournament against different ships/fleets. I'm a little irked that the Viceroy has the Bioship Alpha Pilot captain card without the loss of actions (and the Viceroy is only skill 5 with no Elite Talent).
I've seen some comparisons to the Valdore and how you can give that ship the Flagship Resource and make a green maneuver for 6 attack dice... which is true, but look what you have to do to get that parity with the Scimitar. Just as some initial ideas- and this is just off the top of my head, I can see a Scimitar, Valdore, and an Apex in the fleet. The Apex with Donatra, Shinzon on the Scimitar, and maybe Toreth on the Valdor? I don't have many Romulan ships, so... Oh, and these ideas are all under the "suggested" Wizkids tournament rules and my meta (Fleet and ship pure).
Overall, I think this is a good ship for the Romulans, and it'll see some table time. Heck, I want to play some Romulans now!

I wish they would show us the admirals. I can't understand why all the big secrets. They showed us the admirals in the last wave right up front, but this one they are hidden. It is just odd. Really why show the same old photon torpedoes in Chang's BoP. I guess we will find out through the grape vine soon. I believe this wave comes out this week.

WHAT?!?! Is that a Wizkids thing or you just don't want to pay for shipping? I know when I lived overseas, it killed me to see the new releases in the states and have to wait up to a month later to get it locally (I always tried to support the local game store, despite the fact that I could only order a beer, say please, thank you, yes, no, and where is the loo? in Dutch. It was a bit easier in England, except when they got all "Gutter Trash English" on me (" Wh't be mate, ya Yank bloke?" I'm sorry, I don't understand you. If you hate American's, just nod yes and I'll leave... LOL).
Anyways, sorry ya got to wait so long Compel. The one cool thing about living in England was that I'd get all the GW stuff before other countries, so that was kinda cool. Of course, they don't do that anymore....
The Enterprise-E is a bit 'Meh', but the Sovereign class... great ship! In other words, the Easy E throws a base 5 attack dice, and you can spend 6 points for Quantum Torps to throw five dice + 1 hit in the forward or aft arc without a target lock, just a disable, or you can go with the Dorsal Phaser Array for 6 points and throw 5 attack dice at range 1-2 in a 360 arc. Hmmm.... save yourself 2 points and use the Sovereign with DPA. Even with "Fire at Will (?) that allows you to make a secondary attack- it's still not worth it due to the primary attack value of 5 dice. I do love the new Picard in that expansion! I always like to say "Tea! Early Grey, warm. I hate the Borg!" and pretend to smash a toy star ship. His ready room has a lot of tea cups, Phaser rifles, and toy star ships to smash...
Scimitar- swish swish look at me! I can attack and stay cloaked! If only there was some way to get rid of these Aux Tokens....

So over on BGG someone is reporting that the Scimitar dial and admiral have been revealed on Facebook. The Facebook group is locked, but this is the report.
"movement
6-3 straight white
2-1 straight green
3-2 bank white
1 bank green
3 turn white
4 come about red
90 arc front and back
Hiren: captain 2, cost 1, action: disable 1 of your [crew] upgrades gain +1 attack dice for this round"
Not a lot of green, but enough to make the ship ability work. A 4 come about is very nice. A 90 front amd back makes this ship solid in my opinion. Rear firing plasma torpedoes are always fun to keep people off your tail if this report is true I think Chekov could be a star on this ship, when not playing faction pure.
For 1 point I think Hiren is actually a deal for an admiral. For costing an action his fleet ability isn't great, but 1 point to boost captain skill is awesome.

I want that ship for the Target Lock tokens!
'I1' is awesome, and ranks right up there with 'PP', 'QQ', and 'GG'. Although I've been uses 'ZZ' because I'm a ZZ Top fan...

So I went back and watched Nemesis again last night and I am now a little disappointed that B4, the Data prototype, wasn't included in the pack.He ccould have been another disable crew upgrade. I am thinking the same wording as Seska, but range 1-2. Not sure why they didn't include him, maybe they figured there are enough disable other peoples stuff upgrades right now.
