Are Kroot worth it?
Yes, Kroot are totally viable in a top tier list
No, they are far outclassed by fire warriors
Meh, in the right build they could have a place

Sniper seems like it has very good TAC uses... Definitely worth 1 point per model...

For the guy who leaves it all on the field (because he doesn't pick up after the game).

Its only worth that 10 points per unit, if you cant get more for those 10 points elsewhere.

Since you have to take it on every model in the unit, costs a minimum of 10(smallest size a Kroot squad can be).

Unless you're up against some kind of FOC limitation from a nonsense tournament, I can't recommend ever using squads of 20 when you can instead use two squads of 10.

Two shooting units are indistinct from one shooting unit for offense. For defense, two units are better against assault and shooting in most cases. The only disadvantage of two units is First Blood, but 10 infiltrating guys, potentially with Stealth, aren't likely to be your easiest unit to kill first anyway in most Tau armies.

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

It seems like 10 with 1 hound and sniper rounds is what many people like to take...

I don't see the purpose of the hound.

If they want to outflank...

Acute senses on outflank, an additional 3 inch range on any given movement phase(including the outflank phase) that is not slowed by terrain for objective grabbing. Well worth the 5 points.

Where are you finding this +3 inch move thing?

They move like beasts so they are A. not slowed by terrain, and B. Can be three inches further forward(2 inch coherency and 1 inch base)

Actually might be interesting if some how you managed to murder off all the kroot and leave the kroot hounds to run around and objective grab

I run a fluffy "stealth" tau list which involved three maxed out squads of kroot snipers, pretty good unless you hit a vehicle heavy list. Granted this was in sixth and I haven't played with the new rules yet.
