The journey into Nurgles domain could make for a great novel, in and of itself. I'd say the knight was Draigo as well. Also, any guesses on who the sorcerer was?
The beast of nurgle saving the day at the end was awesomely hilarious. Poor guy just wants a friend!
I was initially wary of what I'd find in Warhammer:Khaine, as I felt the novel Curse of Khaine was subpar, but this might be my favorite book in the End Times series. So much changing!

There are two places that the Realm of Chaos enters the world - one at each pole - to stop Slaanesh sending stuff (or any other god, Chaos or otherwise) the world would need to be sealed from the Warp and then you have no magic either. Not sure if there is even another that is on or part of the Chaos Moon as thats pure warpstone.
Sure the Silver Warrior was not a Necron We'll be having the "Warrior in Jet and Gold" next
Warrior in jet and gold... dont get the reference... horus?

None whatsoever, I think it was just a throwaway characyer since (unlike the scholar and the knight) they didnt bother describing him really in any sort of meaningful manner.

Its definitely not Kaleb Draak. Were never going to know "for sure" because the character is never going to pop up again, and in any case it was an easter egg meant to tease, which means its Draigo, because there isnt any other character (in either GW property) that matches the given description, and youre not going to tease anyone with a new character (that never pops up again).

There's still more end times books we may see him pop up. You MIGHT be right but I'm a skeptic. You can keep your theories but dont proclaim "It's him" without being able to prove it.

im a big fan of moorcock, dont recall jet and gold being anyones colors... hawkmoon? corum?
@Dorian, its extremely unlikely he pops up again, hes cursed to wander the realm of chaos for an eternity, as far as I can recall that was basically the only point in the story thus far across the three books that didnt take place in the mortal realm.
Also, the last time you see him hes impaled on a spear(but still alive as he is beyond the power of daemons and cannot be killed by them), bu thats neither here nor there.
Oh another important detail, the knight was "a giant of a man"... space marine much?

More speculation, you have a lot of circumstantial evidence however you cannot say it IS him as there is no concrete evidence.. There have been giant men, the putrid blightkings are giant but still men. A Warrior of Chaos is described as being significantly larger than a standard empire soldier which is reflected in the models as well.
Also gigantism does exist in humans, Andre the Giant. I've admited it MAY be him but there is no PROOF it is him so nobody (besides GW) can say it IS him.

Im sorry are you new to GW pubs and how they implement easter eggs like this? Because youre being a huge buzzkill. Its Draigo, most people that read that passage will say its Draigo, theyre not going to explicitly name him Draigo or state that its Draigo, but its Draigo. They provided all the hints and clues and descriptors needed to imply its Draigo without outright stating his name, there was no accident or coincidence there, nor was it a coincidence that the scholar is imied to be Richter Kless (mind you hes also perhaps the only character in either fantasy or 40k that is familiar with the opposite setting).
I know its hard being a contrarian, so ill make it easier on you, all ya gotta do is copy and paste this in yohr reply:
"Im sorry almighty internet lord chaos0xomega, you are correct, and I am wrong, the character referenced is Draigo, and Draigo shall he be. Forgive my trespasses and absolve me of my sins against thee. Amen"
Go ahead, it wont hurt, come on, you'll feel better

Karl Franz. Think about, Lore of Heavens... comet, it anchored in the Empire... in the previous book he was struck by a comet, becoming a radiant god amongst men (similar to Teclis, Alarielle, and Malekith) able to summon lightning down from the heavens... hes believed to be the reincarnation of Sigmar which may be the "famiarity" that Teclis spoke of, Karl Franz believes that he didnt save the Empire but rather a magical essence that flowed through him...

Nope. Nor am I new to the idea that when someone makes a statement without facts it becomes an opinion. You very well may be right, but you may be wrong. In saying it IS him, you are currently very wrong as you do not know. I too can come up with sayings to make you feel better mine would be true.

Yeah, unless it's explicitly spelled out in letters, despite all the flashing neon signs that all point in one direction, then it's obviously wrong of you to put the pieces together.
Other examples include Nagash's ''Nameless Necromancer'' is TOTALLY not Drakenfel, The Sisters of Twilight are TOTALLY not Ariel's daughter, The Fey Enchantress was TOTALLY not an Elf, The Fey in Brettonian folklore are TOTALLY not Wood Elves, Cathy is TOTALLY not an analogue for China.
The point of an Easteregg is to heavily imply or show something without having to make it obvious, if it was obvious it wouldn't be rewarding for the people who pick up on it. If he proclaimed ''Hello, I am Grand Master Draigo of the 666th Chapter of the Holy Emperor's Space Marines'' i have a feeling the Easteregg would of lost a lot of it's spark.

Its Draigo, it really need not be explicitly stated that its Draigo for him to be Draigo, just like how it need not be explicitly stated for a mysterious robed space marine wielding two pistols to be Cypher. Duh?
The reason I bring that up is that description of Ulric dates back to WHFB's early history. Since then the Gods of the Empire(and Elvenkind prior to this book) were not really ever described. The only things you have to really claim that this is definitively Draigo are that "The Knight" was a 'giant of a man', 'spoke a strange tongue', and he was 'clad in armor of silver'.
But I could say the same thing for Leonardo the Giant of Estalia, doesn't make him Draigo...
This very well could have been another god that was trapped within the Realm of Chaos--despite your insistence on it being Draigo and only Draigo.

Also my argument is not that it CAN'T be draigo. I have admitted it MIGHT be. My argument is that you are asserting you KNOW it is draigo when you have no PROOF.
Until you can PROVE it, it is an opinion, do not put it forward as fact.

Err theres a lot more to it then that, examble his sword glows, he sets daemons on blue fire with a wave of his hand, hes made a name for himself within the realm of chaos and is a mortal enemy of the chaos gods, he cannot be killed by daemons, etc. etc. etc.

I'm inclined to agree, honestly. But then you see that all the other Avatars are all extremely powerful wizards and I guess that made me question it.
Also, re: Draigo.... it was pretty deliberately non-specific. But GW looooooves to write fluff that is open to interpretation.

Yeah, it's certainly not spelled out as Draigo... but there' enough circumstantial evidence to suggest that even if they don't intend it to be Draigo, they obviously wanted to allude to the fact that maybe it could be.
After re-reading the section last night more carefully (i sorta skimmed it the first time, as Araloth's segments were my least favorite, though i did appreciate the nod to Dante's Inferno), it certainly does seem to indicate its Draigo, but it's not 100% certain.

Just finished reading End Times:Khaine. Loved it. From a narrative perspective I think they really nailed the comparisons between the characters and the elven pantheon.
Few points I'm pondering in my head;
-Teclis. Clearly not dead, especially considering he absorbed the Winds of Light.
-Who takes on the Wind of Magic that escaped? Thinking Balthasar Gelt is a candidate for Metal, maybe too obvious however. Any ideas for Fire/Beasts? We seem to be in agreeable that Heavens is Karl Franz.
-Did Hellebron return to Har Ganeth? Or is she in Athel Loren as well?
-The whole 'rabbit-hole' style thing at the end between Araloth and Lileath and their 'daughter'. Implied that Araloth assumes the role of 'creator' in possibly the next cycle of the Warhammer world. Late at night, this one involves too much brain power for me...

1. I thought he channeled it into his staff, and not himself, like the others did. I figured him for dead.
2. I was wondering this too, Metal may go to Gelt, but he may be too far gone down the Necromancer path, Fire I have no clue. Beasts may go to the new Supreme Patriarch? But then again, you don't have to be a wizard, since Karl Franz ascended.
3. I figured she went to Athel Loren with the rest, but she did seem to hold her own for a bit in Naggaroth when all else left.
4. I got the same impression, but i felt that whole thing was weird, as Araloth is the newest character in Warhammer, and they've taken him out of the picture.
I liked that this book shed some clues on what Karl Franz became, it makes sense now, I suppose.

Yeah, the Hellebron thing has had me scratching my head. She lands on Ulthuan with a not inconsiderable invasion force, gets her ass handed to her by Morathi's host, and is then never heard from again.... but she is in the Host of the Eternity King, which to me implies she made it to Athel Loren.

Really? I missed that, thought he channeled it into himself...
I'm really curious what he intends to do with it, we know that his and Lileaths plan didn't exactly go as intended, he also made some odd chices... Fire got away, depriving him of the opportunity to make Malekith a being of light... so he bound Malekith with Shadow instead of Light.... made no sense to me (also, Alith Anar seemed like an excellent candidate to be empowered by Shadow magic.
