I'm sure they care (about your money... though not enough to actually do market research).

He may have meant the guys in customer service. Every time i've ever had a problem and had to call them, they seemed to actually care about helping me out as a gamer. Case in point, I remember getting a flesh hound with 2 of one side. after talking with me on the phone, they finally just sent me 3 of the other side to make sure I got the correct one.
Another time, they had forgot to add in a ox into an order and when they sent it to me, they not only sent the missing box but tossed in an extra dark elf blister pack for free.

Of course, the customer service dept doesnt make company policy and are low down on the corporate totem pole but I feel that the majority of them actually do care. At least I never had any dealings with them to make me think otherwise.
Now the "suits up top", i agree with you on. I just dont paint the customer service dept with the same brush (pun intended lol).

I really find this baffling. Now in all my years prior to finecast I only ever got 1 bad cast... and I didn't realise it at the time otherwise I would have gotten it replaced (young and stupid, it was an Epic 40k model where the two sides of the casting weren't aligned).

But finecast, I've only bought a few, they were all bad, I got them replaced, the replacements were bad. I ended up with several Lord Commissar models all with casting flaws, eventually I got sick of replacing them and just fixed them all, but I would have much preferred 1 good one than a pile of crap ones. I can walk through my local GW and inspect model after model and they all have flaws. It baffles me how some people have managed to avoid getting at the very least models with bubbles on fingers/noses/sword tips/claws/everywhere, or maybe they just don't see the bubbles.

Something's going wrong when recasters are using better materials than the company.

Umm they aren't. I've gotten alot from china. The quality is at best 90%. The finest details are never as sharp. They "resin" they use is also beyond brittle. Words cannot describe how easily this stuff snaps and breaks. Its actually because if recasters I only get official models now.

This one time, I bought a Wood Elf Battalion box (because I love elves and want to put nice things inside of them). I was going through the sprues in the box, and couldn't figure it out. Something just seemed... off. Then I realized that there were no infantry in the box - instead of infantry sprues they'd included Wood Elf Glade Rider sprues.

Kinda reminds me of the time I was helping pack some sort of flyers or something into bags. There were two piles, and I was supposed to take one from each and put them in a bag together. Eventually I figured, "Wait, why don't I just take two from the same pile? It'd be a lot quicker." Realizations like that are why you have to monitor people doing new things. I must've packed about 25 bags before the guy in charge finally pointed out that the reason there are two separate piles is because one is English and the other is French. Whoops. So I went back and fixed them. I wonder what would've happened if instead of piling up the plastic bags of flyers, they instead immediately made their way down a conveyor belt. And that's what I imagine happened there with the Wood Elves.

Took it back to the store, explained the problem, they gave me two boxes of Glade Guard (the missing infantry) right off the shelves.

My very first experience with a defective product was a Dragon-Ogre that was missing a leg piece... or possibly had the wrong leg piece, I dunno. Took it in, explained, and I kid you not, they opened up a shelf under one of the gaming tables, found the missing piece just sitting there amidst like 50 other loose metal pieces, and gave it to me.

I was a little weirded out that they had the exact piece I was missing just sitting on a shelf. And for a while I might've believed that maybe they made a habit of opening boxes to take parts out of them to mess with people, but in my defence, I was rather ill at the time with a mental illness that includes delusions as a symptom.

Yes for less money. I play IG started at the end of 5th. Had to buy 3 IG codex, 1 sm codex, 1 sw codex, 1 escalation , 1 stronghold assault and 2 rule books to learn the rules. And after around 3 years of playing I had maybe a year and half of fun and a year of no fun, and 7th was all around horrible for my army. But that is not all thanks to glorious GW killing shops left and right, with their sells policy I soon be out of places to play any table top game. So yeah a playstation would have been a better investment for less cash too.

7th is horrible for IG? you wouldnt have got your moneys worth from your army over 3 years? i have seen sooooooo many threads from you complaining about stuff, but the basic problem youve had has been the playgroup that you have. but hey you buy a PS4 (costs about the same as your army) or a PC and see if there is any extra costs about it.
in short i have a gigantic CSM army, even based on thousand sons, and i complain less about it than you do, and you play IG...

I am glad it worked out for you. I have been unlucky enough to have had 4 kits that were damaged or warped in some way, 2 were finecast, 2 were plastic. I called to get the problem fixed. all 4 times i get the replacement part sent to me no problems. Not complaining, but when you read about people getting free kits and not just the damaged part replaced. makes you a little jealous

Creating the thing that lets them produce a new kit for dirt cheap is insanely expensive. You are paying for that one too.

Don't get those recasts hot at all either, they are made of a toxic material that releases when heated...im sure they forgot to mention that part when they sold it.

Considering that GW being a PLC has to refund money or replace defective products by law.
It is much cheaper for them to send you a new product ,(Cost 18% appx of retail price.)

And do to the low cost of manufactured parts it is often cheaper to send a full kit , than break a kit up to send you a single sprue or part.
(Labour cost of sourcing the parts, and having to scrap off the full kit they took parts out of.)

Yes the people who work for GW customer services do a good job.(Some are genuinely very nice people! )

But sending you a replacement for a defective product is just the cheapest option they have a legal obligation to do.

However, have you tried getting a full cash refund for defective product from GW?

That's because Makumba plays against armies that doesn't exist or against people who proxy reaver titans with pringles cans.

He has yet to reply to my question on how his opponents can run those lists legally (and still be decent):

Well my games against GK look like this. 3 NDKs shunt blow up to of my chimeras or the burn my blob and command squads. The drop pod with centurions kills my pask or if am not runing pask they help with destroying my chimeras.

This leaves me, without enough plasma and melta vets to deal with the NKDs. So I kill 1 NDK in return, if I focus fire or damge three, if I don't. If I try to run to objectives and ignore the NKDs, then the squads die and I get 1 turn of scoring while my opponent gets 2-3 and wins by attrition. If I try to kill the NDKs, I still lose units next turn.

So I don't get tabled turn 1, but I do lose turn one, because I can't avoid the GK players alfa strike. And before you tell me to put most stuff in reservs. I tried, it ended with me actualy losing turn 1 by being tabled.

What kindda' list is your friend playing? GK with SW allies and SM allies? That's 3 detachments! Most places won't even allow anything but primary detachment + 1 extra detachment.
You gotta' help me on how he build that list also, because assuming 3 NDKs with heavy incinerators (and nothing else), 1 lvl 3 Librarian, 2 naked Termies, 1 naked SM librarian, 1 scout squad with sniper rifles, 3 grav cents with scope, 1 naked rune priest and 1 drop pod, I still can't squeeze in the mandatory Grey Hunters, let alone weapon upgrades and a drop pod for them.

I'm amazed by the amount of negativity such a thread can get.

I've had support issues with Samsung, Asus and many other big companies as well as most smaller companies and I'm glad to hear that I can expect good service from GW.

Every resin kit is made of a toxic material.

The only difference with Zanchui's resin (the supplier behind yoymart, aliexpress and many other resellers) is that it isn't fully cured, and heat will help it cure further, releasing "toxic fumes" which aren't that toxic either compared to all the gak you get exposed to as a hobbyist, including glues, hot wire styrofoam, etc.

I would advise anyone to wear a mask whenever sanding anything anyway, as well as when working with that dark resin from Zanchui .
