I guess we believe in whatever makes us comfortable. If I was with a loved one at the moment of their death then I'd like to think that they were going somewhere palatable, be they human or animal. You want the best for the ones that you love, right?

Do they really need to 'go' anywhere? I mean everyone who has ever existed is a permanent part of the universe. We perceive time from one moment to the next, but perhaps all of time exists in some sense simultaneously. Just because I read to the end of a book does not mean the book stops existing, or that the pages suddenly turn blank. The story is still there, I'm just not reading it right now.

I was with my father when he died, and even though it was heartbreaking, I can recall times when we were laughing together, like laughing so hard that I couldn't breath. I like to think that somewhere in time, we're still there laughing together, and we always will be.

The Other realm is certainly out there, although whether it is good or bad is really up to the spirit going to it. But if it doesn't work out well for you, don't despair- death is only temporary, and once you're reincarnated you have another shot at it.

English doesn't borrow from other languages. It follows them down dark alleyways and mugs them for loose grammar.
