Attack everything with everyone right now!

My CSM army is mixed ranged and melee, so my tactics adapt depending on what I face. If I face a mostly ranged army, like IG, I rush forward very aggressively and try to drown them with pretty much all I have. Only units like Havocs get to stand back and eliminate units that would otherwise be troublesome for my rushing blobs.

When facing melee-focused armies, like my Ork friend, I tend to stand back and whittle them down with every ranged weapon I can bring to bear. Only when he's gotten very close, THEN I assault with everything.

Works well. Fortunate that my meta is so casual, where there is no such thing as riptides, dreadknights and wave serpents, and where even my Khorne Chosen shine (and shine often!)

I often go into a "destroy at all costs" mode against whatever slaughters my guard HQ.

And my orks go by the motto "charge first, always". Be it nobs vs guard or grots vs terminators.

Gretchin are actually very cost effective at killing Terminators.

Not when they are outnumbered

If only I could get DoW II to work! Bought it 2nd hand without realizing the whole steam thing had to happen. I said no to that. Now when I want my computer fix of Warhammer I plug in Medieval Total War II and pretend I'm Karl Franz.

The DoW games were totally badass though.

Well, when you use a unit to charge a unit that costs fourteen times as many points or more, you should not expect anything else than a good whacking.

This is why I'm building Elysians. Airborne right into their face and then die in droves.

For the most part, I don't do this sort of stuff. The closest I've come was with my IG, when I once charged 2 sentinels into a combat to try and rescue my HQ. It worked about as well as you'd expect.

My last DE game was my first try playing Coven (and DE assault units in general), against a BA player. Since it was really a test-match anyway, I thought I'd be reckless for a change and threw my Warlord-haemonculus and 4 Grotesques into a 10-man enemy biker squad (I hadn't used Grotesques before and just wanted to try them out). I got about half of them, but failed to catch them when they ran. They then rallied, shot up my Grot squad (along with a disembarked squad of tac marines), and then charged them. I ended up facing just two bikers (which would likely die at the end of my turn), with my Warlord and a single grotesque - both clinging to their last wounds.

So, in my turn, I moved their raider forward to block them off from the tactical squad, then moved a second raider (with my other grotesque squad) to try and rescue their leader.

It worked - the tacs couldn't get round the raiders, and so decided to shoot the Grot one (catching my warlord and his grot with flamer templates). My warlord's grot bodyguard went down, along with the grot-raider, but he survived. In my turn, he joined the now-disembarked grots and proceeded to take revenge on the tactical squad.

I probably shouldn't have thrown my warlord into the melee in the first place, but the other grots coming to his rescue was pretty fun.

Yeah, when i read the small novel that is the Death Guard unit options and think about resolving the attacks from a melee-oriented min size death guard squad, the thing that springs to mind is "Accessible!"

I have a terrible habit of getting my shotgun scouts out of their comfy land speeder and charging a unit far too powerful to hope to beat in combat. My brave initiates desperate to prove they are ready to be granted power armour and a place in a battle company. Before they are all beheaded by a mob of death company..
