This is partly why I mostly stick to classic models. My Immortals are metal warriors from '97, my Spyders are metal, my Scarabs are a half and half split... my Tomb Blades are metal Destroyers (because there's simply no way to pass them off as anything other than Jetbikes)...

I use super-glue. You hold for 3 seconds and than spend a minute ungluing your arm off a miniature with a hobby knife. 1 min and 3 sec is faster than 10 min.

Immortals - seriously, their pauldrons break every time you try getting them off the sprue, even when you're being exceedingly careful and specifically trying to NOT break the damn shoulders. Also when you're putting them together, their pieces never align correctly.

Cut the bits of sprue connected to the shoulders free first. That gives you the angle needed to make a clean cut without stressing anything.

Use this and all your plastic glue problems will be a thing of the past. Unless you spill glue or glue something wrong. This stuff melts plastic. It is awesome.

I didn't have trouble with the torsos nearly as much as getting the damn arms to align correctly. I nearly gave up on starting a necron army after I did a ful box of those. I haven't had experience with any other kits (waiting for codex to drop) so hopefully the others will be less painful

I would say that Immortals/Deathmarks have the same problem, but to a lesser extent. They're easier to get right without tearing your hair out.

Now, the two handed staves in the praetorian/Lychguard boxes? Those are an incredible pain to line up. Easier to save yourself the bother and make sword/shield Lychguard or Pistol/Voidblade praetorians.

On the plus side, if you are getting Lychguard at the moment, it's probably just to display your overlord with a visually impressive bodyguard rather than to actually play them very often.

Use Loctite Gel superglue. It dries very quickly, but because its a gel, its super easy to use without going everywhere and fills enough to hold pieces in place.
