And if he is tried just for crimes there, fine.
But in the press here, where we don't have jury selection, if further allegations are made, as has often happened, then already the public here have seen senior individuals proclaim their sureness of his innocence, where of course they are not actually sure. In any other case, supporters would be allowed to say they believed him, or give examples of his good character or whatever, but not that he was certainly innocent. We sill have these unwritten rules where subtly but importantly different standards apply.
