Maybe. Melta and lascannons both got nerfed some in 7th with the new vehicle table. It's all about HPing stuff out now.

Maybe I'm just lucky but I blow stuff up all the time. With one shot. Just cause 1000 people on dakka say it's all about HP stripping doesn't make melta any weaker than it once was - it's actually as strong as it's always been. Meltas still Pen the easiest, which results in vehical damage which prevents things from hurting you or running away - even if you don't kill it. Pens are still very valuable.

If we fail to anticipate the unforeseen or expect the unexpected in a universe of infinite possibilities, we may find ourselves at the mercy of anyone or anything that cannot be programmed, categorized or easily referenced.

Hull point stripping gets the job done eventually, but it can take a significant amount of shots to do it. Meltas and Lascannons are slow strippers, but having just the chance of taking things out with one shot is really really good. It doesn't happen every game, but one shorting a land raider with a combi melta or bomb on a sergeant is a great feeling.
