@notprop - no one else had supply issues for Icestorm though. I asked on here why wayland did, but it got ignored.

Never dealt with Wayland Games. Never heard of them before yesterday and this thread. Then got an update on a Kickstarter I supported - they're using Wayland for fulfillment.
I've got a bad feeling about this...

Sorry should have been clearer. I meant the faction starter boxsets rather than the Icestorm set. I'm not aware of any issue with that.

They do have a wider range than most so while I certainly wouldn't get my GW stuff there (it's not hard to find cheaper/faster), it is a source of other more obscure stuff all in one place so you can pick up cheap/free shipping
Well, they advertise having a larger range than most. Whether they actually have one given that people's experiences seem to indicate large chunks of it are never in-stock despite claims to the contrary is an open question.

Hi Squig, Really surprised by this - I can't find a green box for things being In Stock anywhere on the site. We haven't used a traffic light style system for stock levels in a couple of years. Now we just say " In Stock (52 Ready to Ship!)" or similar. We shouldn't have anything listed as In Stock when it isn't. It might say "Available" or Special Order Item or Pre-Order and that will all indicate items that we expect to receive in within an approximate timescale. But In Stock should absolutely be for items that are In Stock. I've messaged you with my contact email for you to pass me your evidence so I can get it properly investigated.
We are a popular store to visit for thousands of customers each week and have a new site on the way which will make things even better including more detailed stock information, a great Pre-Order system and an excellent loyalty points scheme (and lots more besides)! There were some issues with the Battlesystems Kickstarter that affected backers in the States which we apologise unreservedly for our part in the situation. That said, we fulfil many Kickstarters (and other projects) without a hitch. Most people who back related Kickstarters don't even know it was sent by Wayland.
If the project is fulfilled by Wayland, rest assured we have one of the largest and most professionally run set of warehouses of any company in this industry and I am very proud of our Warehouse team and their work. If you've got real worries Pete, feel free to PM me and I'll happily pick up the phone and talk you through what we are doing.

I'd still use Wayland. In fact, I ordered one of their Black Friday weekend deals (with something else for free shipping), and although delivery was delayed by a week or so, I was informed over email that this was the case.
On the other hand, I no longer use them regularly. Nothing to do with threads like this that come up from time to time, but for me it's entirely down to the fact that my orders never seem to qualify for the free shipping promotions. Instead, they require pricey courier delivery (which I usually find out when completing checkout). Wayland have lost all of their orders from me to Element when that happened. It's just too annoying to spend time building towards the £40 spend only to find you have to pay for courier because of the one bottle of paint that you just can't do without.
Having said that, apparently RM have relaxed their shipping restrictions on paint. Are Wayland aware yet? Might help them out in getting some more business back from me, anyway.

I fully understand your gripes, and I agree that their stock availibility thing is gak. But as a non-UK customer, I have to mention one word: PRICE. A quick check on some GW stuff that I would like to buy before GW puts them on direct-mail-order-only shows: Dark Sphere 83,27 + 17,23 shipping (WTF?!) = 100,50 GBP Element Games 94,34 + 6,95 (if I take them seriously, i.e. 6,95 is the highest they will charge - did not want to go through with the checkout process) = 101,29 GBP Wayland Games 88,80 + free shipping = 88,80 GBP With the EUR being so weak against the pound right now, it makes less sense to buy in the UK but still.... You just need to make sure to protect yourself. Whenever they approach the 45day-deadline of Paypal, I open a dispute, effectively cancelling my order. Happened 2 times in the past. The last two times I ordered, however, the parcel arrived within 2 weeks, so I had nothing to complain about.

But for £13.00 extra, I'd rather be secure in the knowledge that the items are in fact on the premises, and will be posted out that very same day.
Element has free postage over £80(!) but this must obviously be UK only.
However, it is good to also see happy outcomes dealing with WG!
edit - Sorry, 13 euros.

Interesting how someone from Wayland actually responded to this thread in a helpful manner... but not to the person who started with the original complaint.
Instead they respond to the person who has reported them to trading standards. So its pretty clear they dont care about customers, just about avoiding legal issues.

Yeh I was gonna say, the website looks exactly the same to me, as it has for.... well, ever since I started using it!!
But I thought maybe it was just my bad memory, or perhaps they changed the back-end stuff and just kept a "familiar style".
But yeh, far as I can see its the same system as always. They certainly do a good job at making it seem like they have a lot of stock, but like someone said its no good having all that selection on show if they aren't actually capable of selling most of it.
Also, "Available" should mean available. Not "Available from another supplier, so we will order one in for you in a few days/weeks, and then proceed to send it on to you eventually".
That isnt available. That is what most stores would call "Unavailable". Its out of stock, wayland. Just admit it.

Element Games have this system:
Green = In stock
'orrible green = Stock due
Blue = Available (I would infer that this means it's available for them to order, but not held on site)
Red = Unavailable
Both the awaiting/available icons also show the date these items will received/dispatched by Element.
So at a glance, you know what you can get, what you have to wait for and what you'll not be getting from Element!
edit - clarity.

Ah but if it's green, it's on site and you know you'll be getting it! And even the awaiting/available has expected delivery dates.
Element are based at my FLGS so I'm a bit biased, and can collect my orders the day I order them saving all that annoying waiting for the postman

This. It's not just a green icon, they list the exact stock level next to it, and it's never lied as far as I can tell. Literally the only time there was an issue was when I ordered the entire new Vallejo Game Air range before release and they got shorted on two of the colours - they apologised and sent me the two bottles express at their own cost as soon as they got the stock in.

Its similar, except wayland has their "available" tags showing up as if the items are the same as in stock. On element the in stock items are green, everything else is blue or red, very clearly not the same.
On Dark Sphere, they actually say how many of each item they currently have in stock, and also if they have items already ordered and on their way, it will say:
" We have 5 in stock
- 1 due in shortly."
And so far it seems to be totally accurate. Wayland's system is... alright, I guess. It does say in the small print that "available" actually means "we dont have any", but it's not exactly a user-friendly system. It's actually a bit of a con. Getting customers to buy things on long-order so wayland doesnt have to hold any stock, and making the customers wait longer than they want.

Hi Winter,
Not sure why Cities of Death buildings would take that long. In fact I'm fairly certain we have some in our warehouse right now! Could it be that your order contains other items we are waiting for that are not from Games Workshop? PM me your order details and I'll have a look.

I think part of the problem is the "Available" in green is actually a lie, as they do not have those items. The "typically ships in 3-9 days" is wholly dependant on Wayland buying in the stock from another company, waiting for that company to ship it to them, and then re-packagaing and re-shipping the item on to you. This is not an available item, this is an item that they will order in for you. Its not a special order though, as I assume they only do their buying-in orders once a week (Hence an average of 3-9 days). This is dishonest advertising, making it seem like they have items they don't.
I knew this problem with wayland though, so it didn't bother me too much. My issue was ordering items that were definitly in stock (according to the site) but then waiting 2 weeks before they decided to let me know they actually didnt have something.

To be fair I also responded to two other posts which didn't. I'm not trying to make you feel even more unloved than you probably already do, but thought I'd clarify.
Message of the day from Wayland staff: We want to help. If you want a specific response to your concerns, contact us and we'll do just that. But please don't attack me for going onto a forum and trying to help some people.
I apologise our message of the day is a little wordy. Tomorrow I'll try and make it more punchy. Maybe "Building Better Worlds" or something...
I didnt mean to attack you, but so far my responses from your teams customer service emails have been less than promising. You personally seem to be trying to help people, so apologies for making it seem like I had an issue with you yourself.
Also, I'm not sure if it was intentional, but making a Weyland-Yutani quote from a Wayland employee made me chuckle. I do hope it was intentional.

And before that, it was "sorry, we're in the middle of moving warehouses" for something like 5 years straight.

A little update from me.
My outstanding infinity items are on their way as I'd hoped and as WG CS said.
Alls well that ends well.

I use Wayland once every couple of months. Usually for Knight Models Batman and Marvel stuff for me or Games Workshop stuff for my son. The KM stuff I only order if they have tons in stock (at least 5 or so) and so far they have been fairly reliable.
The GW stuff I usually order WAY ahead of time and only if I dont mind waiting a month or more, and never with newly released products just older stuff. So far the system seems to work but I'd be very wary of ordering anything out of stock that I needed sooner than 2 to 4 weeks.
Overall a bit ropey but worthwhile for cost for those with patience. The two times I've needed to contact them with a problem its been resolved pretty quickly and without fuss.
