Maybe if the 28mm game they've mentioned needed a lot of corridors I'd be interested, however then I'd want the 28mm game to be the focus of the kickstarter.
But you get almost as much terrain with spratan's existing hdf terrain and corridors For the same price.
For the step down to card board I don't see as big a saving as I would expect.

I don't think I was advocating buying their terrain.

Sorry, just me being really puzzled at the Price. Didn't mean for it to seem like I was attacking you or anything. their later cut stuff is actually some of the most competitively priced out their right now I feel.
the card price just doesn't feel like it justifies the drop in quality compared to what spartan themselves already sell.
It's quite strange to me. It feels like this product was not developed enough before coming to market.

Killionaire wrote:Why on earth is Spartan doing a KS? They already have a main business that's churning product, a weird spin-off experimental group that sort of leads nowhere, an already existing 'scenery and terrain' line, and a dozen games, four of which are supported.
This is just totally random.
Oh come now..."a dozen games" is a bit of hyperbole, as is suggesting that SG doesn't support a majority of the games it makes. The only one you could argue they don't support is US, but even then it is still available direct (while that is tepid support at best, it is still support).
I do agree with your larger point though; this KS strikes me as a bit of a weird move...as someone who is interested in SG primarily for their lovely resin ships, a 28mm dungeon tile set doesnt really interest me a whole lot.

Isn't that the point of running a Kickstarter--We've got this idea for a product line, not necessarily directly in line with what we're doing, and we want to find out how much demand there is for it?
Spend a few months putting a project prototype together, a few weeks putting a Kickstarter project together, and then...
Worst case scenario: Find out that there's either not enough interest or that the feedback group (Kickstarter people) want something different.
Best case scenario: Receive an injection of funding and you're going to have a new product line in a year.

Well quite some side-line games from Spartan do not get the love zhey deserve and even for the main systems there is sometimes quite a stretch between releases.

I think the best campaigns have a lot more preparation / commitment than that, solkan! Unfortunately, I think you may be right about the approach here, though...

I don't mean to say anything bad about the amount of preparation or commitment in the project. For me, understating a year as "just a few months" may as well be a professional duty.
From the project comments, it looks like they've got more show-and-tell later this week. But the images they posted in the second update make the terrain look a lot better than the pictures on the main page.

If part of the idea behind this was to be able to set up ship tables for boarding actions really easily, I think that's a fairly good proof of concept.
(The rest spoiler'd because of image dump)
