Melbourne

G'day folks,

I've been trundling through this forum post a couple of times now, and doing a little bit of research myself. It's a big bad world out there, when it comes to airbrushing, what with compressor choice, brushes, and needles (I still have no idea where the needle is in an airbrush yet).

Obviously, eBay are going to have complete kits for purchase --- and so far I've seen the aforementioned kit wandering around anywhere between $25 and $125, which really instils confidence in a buyer. I am of the opinion that if you're going to do something, you may as well start doing it properly so you don't have to un-learn things down the track, and in my mind the same goes for purchases --- if I'm going to do something right, I may as well do it right from the beginning.

So I guess my question is, for someone just starting out airbrushing, is it worth the hassle of risking eBay purchases or build-your-own set-ups? Or is the smarter option to just jump into an Iwata set up?

Iwata has a little "Neo Air Compressor" that seems to me to be a good idea --- being Iwata but not seriously expensive.

Anyway, these are just my thoughts after reading for awhile, and I wondered what people thought.

Cheers,
Joshua

Id see myself using spray guns and doing a lot more than just base coating minis. Is oil free amazing or is maintenance pretty simple on compressors?

Can I get some opinions?

Do people think these Delta compressors / airbrushes are the same as this ebay one just rebranded? Or maybe slightly better in the compressor?

A local hobby store has one super dusty delta combo one for 299 (they wont lower the price)... for a little more I can get an airbrush compressor from ebay and an iwata brush from another online store... cant decide whats the best option (im assuming iwata brush and ebay compressor but could be wrong).

Delta kit (second one in case - 8405) : http://www.brunelhobbies.com.au/DeltaAirBrush/deltaAirBrush.htm

Ebay: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/311300272501?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Normally I wouldn't split hairs so much over $100 etc with cheaper hardware but with regards to budget that can buy a lot of paint and get a lot of stuff done.

The iwata brush option i'd be looking to start with is a HP.CS then get a HP.BP later once I have more control. Then a power jet pro eventually (if im using it enough) so I can spray gun.
