I disagree guys. A commissar should be the only thing conferring hatred against traitor guard. And I DEFINITELY don't think Gue'Vesa should have hatred. If anything I imagine them trying to convince them of the righteousness of the Greater Good and see their former brothers in arms as misguided. Brainwashing people brainwashing.

Well, I'm trying my damndest to avoid including anything that looks like a commissar, and would also prefer to avoid creating "extra Kroot". Giving them hatred (IG) makes that melee all the more exciting (and gory), and gives them a unique playstyle. However, if you've got a better idea that sticks with the theme, I'm all ears.

Imperial Guard (and friends) fighting for the Greater Good.

I think Mordred meant that Imperial Guard commissars should bestow Hatred (Gue'vesa), not that you should include a Commissar-like character for the Gue'vesa.

That said, something like a Pathfinder squad leader upgrade would be fairly cool as a kind of 'Tau-commissar' equivalent.

Perhaps Lasguns as standard, with Pulse Carbines as an optional upgrade? How about giving them Exterminators if you want to emphasise the flamey/explodey side?

I'm confused. Isn't this supposed to be a replacement/analogue to a Veteran Squad within the Astra Militarum/Imperial Guard list? In which case, shouldn't there already be a Veteran Sergeant - *ahem* sorry, Veteran Gue'vesa'ui - already as part of the squad?

All in all, I think the simplest and possibly most fun solution would be to simply create a Gue'vesa doctrine (or set of doctrines). For instance, one replaces all their Lasguns with Pulse carbines, another gives them all single-use Markerlights, etc.

Yes, hence upgrade - the Veteran Sergeant can upgrade to a Pathfinder shas'ui for x points, swapping flak for recon, lasgun for carbine with markerlight and gaining a blacksun filter.
