n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.
It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion. By the juice of the brew my thoughts aquire speed, my mind becomes strained, the strain becomes a warning. It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion.
No kidding. I had to work in Manhattan (hate traffic, worst place to get to), then Spock! Only decent thing is a coffee date with a redhead I knew back in college is on the agenda for tomorrow!! But that doesn't help today!!
Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

This is the first time a celebrity has died during my lifetime that I will genuinely miss. He was a national treasure and was the primary reason Star Trek succeeded and brought joy to millions.

I wish I could come up with something witty or clever to say to honor him, but I can't.
Peace, and long life.

I grew up with Star Trek, along with regularly going to Sci Fi movies in the theaters with my Grandfather, one of my favorite memories was sitting down in my Grandparent's living room, after raiding the local library for the episodes of The Original Series and watching for an hour or two.
As I grew I got more into scifi and Star Trek, but I also started reading non-fiction, and amongst those numerous books, both of Leonard Nimoy's books on his relationship with the character of Spock. I found the man interesting, and was later more interested in his post Star Trek career. (Except for his music career. Yikes.) there's no denying that both Leonard Nimoy, and the character of Spock had an impact on me, and on my life.
You'll be missed Mr. Nimoy. Live long and prosper.
“I’m touched by the idea that when we do things that are useful and helpful - collecting these shards of spirituality - that we may be helping to bring about a healing.”

Ouze beat me to posting this story because I found out on Twitter while waiting in line at a Peruvian chicken joint today for lunch.
Very sad to hear about his passing. Also, this gave me the feels:

And some, I assume, are good people."
This picture was the biggest gutpunch I saw on Twitter coming from thatterigirl.
I've got to say, I'm usually not affected by this sort of stuff. I've only actually seen about 5 episodes of the original series - though the films were much closer to me.
Another of the original cast gone. I have fond memories of watching classic Trek with my Dad, who had watched it when it had originally aired. I am saddened by this news for sure, Mr. Nimoy certainly inspired and left his mark on many people and on the sci-fi establishment. Here you go, from Rogue Trader:

In any case. This really did get me.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Star Trek actor William Shatner, who is reported to have stolen the space shuttle Enterprise.
It is believed that Shatner carried out the audacious theft with a group of friends after claiming they just wanted to ‘look the old bird over’ before she was broken up.
NASA are reported to be incredulous about the crime, as the Enterprise was retired from service in 2012.
A spokesperson said, “We just don’t understand how they got her going. She’s a relic on a one-way trip to the scrap heap.”
“Quite simply, the engines cannae take it.”
“The only way they could get that old tub going again would be to steal parts from a nuclear vessel, and who has the ability to do that?”
Shatner to search for Nimoy
Shatner and his crew – reported to comprise Nichelle Nichols, George Takei and Walter Koenig – are understood to believe that Leonard Nimoy will have been reborn on a new, Edenic alien world as suggested in a 1984 documentary.
When asked their course, shortly before passing out of radio range, Shatner is reported to have replied “Second star on the left, and straight on ’til morning.”

As Star Trek fans mourn the death of beloved actor and ‘geek grandfather’ Leonard Nimoy, another group is expressing a different stance. The Westboro Baptist Church hinted Friday at plans to picket Nimoy’s funeral, using a variety of slurs too offensive to be repeated here.
Leonard Nimoy passed away Friday, February 27, 2015, after a long struggle with COPD. Co-stars and fans tweeted their regards, Nimoy’s granddaughter shared information about the funeral on his Twitter timeline, and, in general, a great and beloved man was mourned.
More than an actor, in early 2014, Leonard Nimoy became an ‘honorary grandfather’ to many of his followers and fans.
Unfortunately, Nimoy’s high level of fame and his large and loyal following made him an ideal target for the Westboro Baptist Church, a group that pickets funerals of soldiers and anyone with a high profile. The Westboro Baptist Church associated their picket threat with other Star Trek stars, and the things about those stars that the group opposes: George Takei and Zachary Quinto, who are openly gay (the WBC’s favorite conversation piece), and William Shatner, who the Westboro Baptist Church claims “hates God.”
However, because of his high profile, it’s quite possible that Nimoy would have been a Westboro target anyway — the church shows an affinity for events that will gain a lot of attention.
Tweeting about the star’s death and funeral, several Westboro Baptist Church accounts announced their intentions.
FUNERAL PICKET ALERT
Mr Spock was partaker of @ZacharyQuinto, @GeorgeTakei’s [offensive anti-gay slur redacted] sins & @WilliamShatner’s hate of God.
It’s worth noting that the Westboro group doesn’t always show up when they threaten, and, perhaps more encouraging, that when they do show up, there are frequently counter-protesters, who hold up their own signs, or even block access so that the group can’t get close enough to the event to cause extra pain to the family. According to the Huffington Post, a motorcycle group even watched for WBC members and worked to keep them away from services for Newtown, Connecticut victims.
Bearing in mind the passion of Leonard Nimoy fans, it seems likely that, if there is a public service and the protesters do show up, they’ll be efficiently kept away from the mourners. At this point, however, no public services for Leonard Nimoy have been announced, and his family may elect to keep their own service private, in order to keep the Westboro Baptist Church, and anyone else who might invade their mourning space, out.
