Yeah I would stay away from sniper scouts... they can't move and shoot effectively, they don't pin anymore, and you'll only hit 50% of your shots... wound 50% of those, and rend maybe 1 shot... really not a great unit IMO for their points. I like the idea of filling out the Sternguard some more, adding heavy flamers, and what about adding a TFC? You could also apply some more misc. upgrades like a combi-plas to the Tac sgts and upgrade the Skyhammers to Typhoon if you know they're bringing a flying Tyrant (you'll force him to jink since it's AP3).

What about a Whirlwind or a Whirlwind Scorpius? I don't have a TFC. Yeah the Scouts aren't that great once I stop to think about it.

Yeah the Whirlwind and/or Scorpius pattern is great against swarms.

Got a Whirwind in the list, which has the Battle of Keylek, so it's large blast now ignores cover!
