Why put that forward?

I don't advocate home schooling in general, but I could see advantages for people living in areas with very poor public schooling.

Yeah, I can see how home schooling can have great practical advantages. I am wondering how it could be construated as making you a better person somehow, though.

As for the devout in his religion thing... I think that's also something that could be good. Im not a christian (any more), but I think that if it had said "Devout Buddhist" or "Devout Asatrean", "Devout Jew", etc. it would have the same effect in my eyes... The guy is devoted to something higher than "himself" and, we would often assume that he has some moral standards.

Do you know which organization is full of devout Muslim? ISIS. Full of devout Christians? The WBC. Any cult if full of devout people.

Funny how that works when a douchebag goes cherry-picking for cheap shots.

As a person who has been homeschooled until college, I am deeply sorry that we've been appropriated for a dumb and insensitive meme talking about people dying.

Also: for those who've had poor experiences with homeschoolers, you've probably interacted with some and not noticed because they were well adjusted.

Also-also: many parents try homeschooling after their children struggle in public school as a last resort. So homeschoolers somewhat self select as 'odd' in an effort to protect children that are different.
