The stealth was kind of meant as a blanket statement. It would be from having better intel overall and being able to take more advantageous positions or generally messing with their communications. something along those lines. Not because they're ninjas...which they totally are too

And the mobile siege line seems interesting too. But I already have formations that outflank and wanted to avoid repeating myself. Not that it doesn't make sense, but it forced me to come up with different themes for each of the legions and despite not copying(too much) I was still able to pull it off. Which shows how varied these legions are and just how inadequate the codex is.

Otherwise that would be pretty sweet. An outflanking vindicator seems maybe a bit too strong for my tastes, but not so much so that I couldn't see it happen.

It is strong because Iron warriors used that tactic to great effect and waac. That is how Vindicator are supposed to be used but no, GW decided a siege tank should be 24".

Well in the meantime I had a small game (1000 pts) of black legion against daemonkin. They felt about right in terms of power level. Although I forgot about the melee part lol.
Against other non space marine 3+ armies nothing much changes, they become slightly better but not overly so.
Against Marines I think they would be fine assuming marines get their own formations. (which, knowing GW, would probably make my formation look weak in comparison.)
Against horde armies they might be a bit strong, but I unless you play with more points they will have trouble against the bigger creatures and blasts so it kinda works out.

Be nice if other people would test the formations too ^^.

had a lord(quicksilver) with 5 chosen, 20 marines and two units of 5 terminators along with 2 sorcerers. Nothing special apart from the odd (Combi)melta and a lascannon.

Not quite sure what you mean, but the Word bearers have a formation that would allow you to take 3 individual oblits.

Yes it's one of my formations for Word Bearers. One of the generic ones anyway.

Got to try thousand sons at 1000 points vs tau.

lord+termies, 2 Tsons,2 cultists, another lvl 3 sorc and trilas pred

Really wanted to try what a chaos lord sorcerer would be like, so I gave him the magnus scrolls in addition to being level 3. A fully geared lord would be approaching daemon prince levels of points, but he sure felt like the powerful sorcerer I'd imagine a TSons lord to be.

The sons themselves were much more useful with shroud and pyromancy, both tougher and more dangerous.
Game didn't go my way for various reasons, but I enjoyed the the Tsons with attached sorcerors. The variety of powers and buffs was pretty nice.

They would really need a codex though. Would make things much more interesting. The tzeentch daemonkin could prove to be quite fun, though not what I want from a fluff perspective.
