Steam is DRM. Lets not forget that. Steam was the original online DRM.
Steam's primary purpose isn't DRM. The system is incredibly easy to exploit and Valve is well-aware of it. Steam started off as a pure DRM tool but then became the best invention for master race gamers there ever was.
Steam is pushing games on Linux and that by itself is AWESOME!
Would I have been able to play Shadow Warrior (the modern remake) on Linux without Steam? That is really not so sure…
