A few questions about Ork tech:

Do their ships have communication systems?

yes

How would they make their ships?

Mekboyz construct ship parts from collected scrap. Orks can instinctively build weaponry and it comes to them very easily if there's enough resources and the right leadership.

What weapon sytems would they have?

Same as Imperial more or less. Lances (lasers), macrocannons, flak turrets, etc..

... powerful catapults that hurl grots with melta-bombs strapped to them. Torpedos that some Boyz might "hitch a ride on" to assault the enemy ship (note that these are not, strictly speaking, assault torpedoes... they're just an available "transport"). Giant shotguns that fire pulverized asteroids and scrap. Space-born plasma-flamers. Capital-class Shokk Attack Gunz.

You name it, an Ork can weaponize it.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.
