Sisters of battle and some orks are older. Also Necron monoliths are ancient

The stock Chaos Space Marine kit came out near the end of 4th edition, but it's very similar to the 3rd ed Chaos kit. That puts it as newer than a pretty large number of kits, including large swathes of the Tau, Eldar, and even Space Marine range. The stock Marine kit was older until very recently when it got a revamp, and things like Marine Terminators, Rhinos, Land Raiders, Dreadnoughts, and the Dark Angels tactical squad are older as well. It's not that old a kit, it's just not that great a kit.
The Horus Heresy heavy weapons are really the way to go. If you want to make them all daemonic and warped you have the freedom to, and if you don't they're still awesome looking weapons that'd look great on any Chaos Marine.
E: Also the rumor was for a Chosen/Havocs box that had multiples of every option which is pretty preposterous. I never put much credence in rumors that are as wishlisty as that one was.

Eh, you're probably right. That rumour sounded too good to be true but still hoping a new kit comes out.
And speaking of Chosen, they don't even have their own kit so I think GW should definitely give Chaos marine box sets and units a lookover and fix the issue.

Honestly, Chaos Marines really need the following to bring our model up to par with the rest of the game in general;
1. New CSM kit that has basic wargear options for the unit Champ, (power sword + axe + fist + combi-weapons), 2x Plasma pistol, Missile launcher, Heavy flamer, Flamer/Melta/Plasma gun
2. Re-cut Termie kit that gives 2x Power maul/axes, 2x Lightning claws, minimum 1 of each combi-weapon (plasma is missing entirely!), Heavy flamer, Reaper Auto + new heavy weapon.
3. Updated Berserker kit with enough chainaxes for the entire god damned squad instead of just half the buggers!!
4. New Havoc kit with 2x Las/Heavy bolter/Autocannon/Missile launcher + 1 each of the Flamer/Melta/Plasma guns.
5. Re-cut kits for the Rhino & Land Raider that add a 'Chaos only' version, since loyalists get to have 3-4+ different varients on theirs!
And that's on top of requiring actual plastic kits for Thousand Sons, Plague Marines, Noise Marines, Chosen & Cultists, which are entirely missing in action!
Yeah, the only ones who can complain they're in a worse spot than us are Sisters players!
Everyone else can suck it up and at least be thankful that their kits give them their actual codex options, unlike our kits which for the most part are missing 50% or more of our relevant options!
Chaos is getting to the point that we're going to need a 'Dark Eldar re-do' level of model releases.

I agree completely, it's amazing how lacking the Chaos Marines are when you think about it.
Another thing I feel needs some tweaking is the Chaos Lord because he can only be customized with terminator armour, albeit the kit is still nice regardless but I was wanting a power armoured Lord to customize. Not the biggest problem obviously but just showing our lacking of being able to customize our models the way we see fit.

My problem with Chaos in general is GW tries to hard to go all chaosy. We don't need intestines, spikes, demon heads, and pointy stars on every square inch of the things.
If the rumored 30k/HH stuff turns out to be true, I'd probably just buy a bunch of them to make into chaos space marines.

Mine is also most definitely screaming in protest as well, but then, I've been setting aside $5-10/week ever since the early part of the year when the Tzeentch Daemonkin rumors first appeared in order to hopefully prevent my poor wallet from pulling a Jack Bauer and 'going dark' on me! (sorry, been watching a lot of 24 lately... )
Considering GW's seeming aversion to Chaos and wanting to let us rot until everyone else and their mother has had at least 3 more releases, I should have a pretty solid pot saved up by the time we likely get something thrown our way...

Thanks for the shout out to sisters players but seriously at least you have options. Sisters have essentially 1 model that is used across troops, elites, fast attack, and heavy support just with different weapons, repentia, special characters that range from shatty to meh in both look and crunch. Immolater and exorcists are just rhinos with pretty hats. The penitent engine is probably the most visually appealing thing we have and no one has those because they're very niche combat wise, extremely heavy, and the nastiest model left in the game to assemble. Chaos space marines need work yes, but if I hear one word about Havocs before the supposed sisters release I will be very cross.
