EW balance issues only crop up when army sizes start to balloon.

If you play at 1390, then the dreaded T-34/KV rarely pops up and then only usually in singletons. It's still a tough nut to crack but doesn't completely imbalance the game. Last tourney I went to was 1390 EW and I think there were two T34s in total there.

And I don't think it will ever be possible to go to a campaign style tournament scene and get any widespread support. Hard to get motivated about a Lorraine event when all you have are Russians.

I don't get the sudden fear about T34s in early war. It's just a slightly faster Valentine with HE.

I know we've run two themed events (an early LW west front) and a LLW event both got fully filled, we have a MWxeast front only event in September with only two spaces left.

I think themed events is the way forward

I'm not sure how that's relevant. The fact that Panthers and StuG III Gs are more popular than Panzer 38(t)s doesn't change the fact that there's a wider difference difference between the R35 or Panzer I and the T-34 than there is with the historically common vehicles in 1942 and 1943.
