All the stuff from GW this year has been a hit for me other than Daemonkin, as I'm not much of a Chaos fan. Literally, the Chaos stuff were the only GW model/codex releases I didn't buy this year, and I still grabbed a Bloodthirster for kicks.
Ironically, most exciting for me were lipped shoulder pads with icons in the upgrade packs ROFL. And sculpted decorative bases with the assault marines. I bought 2 boxes of ASM mostly just to get the floor tiles.
I've been very pumped about the new Space Marines codex!

last time I got really excited for an army was Militarum Tempestus. I pre-ordered the bundle with 2 squads, the Taurox and the Codex. Got was I disapointed to see that they were basicly the whole codex :( I was young, naive and new to warhammer when that happen. I cried at first, but after a while, I became a man.
And now I'm really hoping for a revemp of this codex lol

I don't play AdMech, so what is and is not available for them doesn't excite me.

The Bloodthirster of Insensate Rage is one of the coolest models ever. I love the rules, as well.
I did get excited for the bloodthirster, for the model And the rules. though the Daemon rules, not the KDK rules
imo greater rewards are a must for the "Bulletmagnet of insensate rage" just the possibility of having a BTOIR with a rerollable 2++ and 4+ fnp (yes, it happened) is enough to make me moist

I am excited to get working again on my Crimson Fists after a little Blood Angels-based hiatus. I am excited that Pedro Kantor was buffed to have Artificer Armor and FNP. He is now a pretty good model for his points. ObSec Sternguard! I am also looking forward to adding some Grav Bikes to my army. I could have before, but new codex equals new stuff.

The fact that they both came out around the same time really reinvigorated me into 40k, and I've been wondering if anyone here has actually felt excited and re-energized to play 40k like I have over a recent release. Recent being any time within the last year or two... Things do kind of move kind of slowly in this hobby...
Not realy. Everything new they brough either was so bad no one will play it or is much better then what my army gets. So while technicly there may somewhere in the world exist an eldar circuse player, all I get to see are those with jetbikes, D weapons and WKs. It would be ineteresting to see some weaker armies, that aren't totaly bad or which can't ally in centurion stars or Knights.I could have some fun games then.

Nothing other than Sigismund and the Warhound I'm picking up at GenCon.
None of the new stuff thats been coming out has really excited me any. I was kinda excited about the Admech when I first saw the infantry and the chicken walker, but all the other stuff that has come out for them looks tacky and stupid. My personal opinion only. I think the last new things that made me excited where the Valkyrie and Leman Russ kits in what, 2009?

The UM chapter upgrade sprue gave me “I need this now!” level of excitement. The new AM box and Eldar jetbikes/seer got me excited enough to buy. Given GW’s prices, this is a reasonable level of excitement.
But the current SM/Eldar releases are not generating the same amount of excitement as the last ones. I could hardly wait to get my hands on a Crimson Hunter. And the veteran kits, particularly the sternguard, are made of pure distilled awesomesauce.

Forgeworld, however, does excite me. They continue to produce truly beautiful models that aren't covered in CAD copypasted skulls and purity seals. Their books are full of fluff, that is actually newly written for those books. Their rules writing (while not flawless) is vastly superior to GW's.
Yes, FW is expensive, too, but at least they make feel appreciated as a customer, and that I am getting a quality product.

The new knight gallant (CC IK) got me excited with its rules. I'm an ork player though, and I'm not sure I want to spend lots of money on a Come the Apocalypse ally conversion. Even though the Gorka/Morkanauts are trash-tier, I'd rather stick to those just because they're propa an' green!
Other than that, the kastelan robots looked cool. Will definitely loot them in the future!

I was excited before the new Necron codex came out.
I've been a bit let down as the new codex feels like its ripped all of the (little) amount of flavor that existed from the last one, and also because, while the new codex seems great to a Necron player, noone but 1 of my friends really wants to play against it anymore...I can tell the others are just being nice for the most part, and wishing I'd shown up with a different army. Hopefully, the new Space Marine codex will change that.

My tourney army is DE. I generall place 1-3rd with it, in a pretty competitive east coast meta. The only disappointment in it for me was no vect. Dark Eldar are plenty competitive. They just don't have a strong representation of players at national events.

Really? You use a pure DE army in tournaments?
Though, in any case, my problem is less with the competitiveness of the codex and more with how bland and boring it is.
