You have a truly beautiful army developing here. I am in awe in front of your winged tide. Can I be bold and ask what your previous Tyranid army looked like before you decided to embark on this endeavor?

The wings really sold it! The sound they would make. That would be terrifying.
Love the colors

Work has been crazy so I apologize for being slow to reply, I've gotten a lot of work done on the army but want to save new pics for when I have a lot more to show. So updates soon!

Thanks, I think when the whole army is done it will have the bug look that I think Tyranids need.

Ditto, fantastic conversion

Thank you!
Jambles wrote:Wow, wow. So dope this army. Very well done.

The wings on the gants remind me of speed-upgraded zerglings in StarCraft 2

If only they could move faster in 40k!

Glasdir wrote:absolutely fantastic, I love the wings on the 'gants and on your warlord nid (not sure what it is, I'm not hugely familiar with nids), they really add to the insect-y feel of a tyranid swarm. the 'gants remind me of the geonosians from star wars.

Thanks man, I most look forward to my Tyrants not having the dragon wings constantly in the way of movement.

Sure, they were these guys:

I miss them and the scheme some times, but we had our good times and I'm glad they are off doing battle around the world now in other armies.

Love the colors

For sure, I'm hoping to bring them all together for a darker, realistic look on the table, they need some short stories.

That's a very original take on Tyranids, and executed really well. Nice!

I'm surprised no one has asked, where did you get the wings? if you made them, how? I've been looking for economical bug wings for years for a nurgle jump pack army I've always wanted to make

It's not necessarily economical, I bought a cricut explore for around $200 and designed the wings in Photoshop, then made vectors out of them in Inkscape that the cricut could use to cut out the wings from plasticard.

I use it for stencil making as well so I didn't just buy it for this project, although it was the main reason.

I can't imagine selling off 7k points of a fully painted army and starting again... But kudos on the work. I like the wings and the fluff behind the hive fleet. I'm not really sold on the paint scheme, but the conversions are ace. Keep up the good work.

The Malanthropes underdeveloped wings buzz constant, hovering over the battlefield while collecting the dead and dying.

The Furiosa pounds the enemy from afar with biomines and seeker drones.

Love the colors. That muted, natural look with the unsettling green glow. Works really, really well.

These bugs are something else. That Malanthrope is by far my favorite. He's like the tentacled bumblebee of death.

Thank you very much, hopefully they'll be popular at NOVA.

Thanks, I almost didnt put wings on him, but I liked the vision of him buzzing and barely staying aloft to hover across the battlefield.

Just loving the models so far, simply loving the theme though! One question though, what did you use for the heads for the lictors?

I just greenstuffed them...honestly I wanted the big dumb mantis face, and keeping with the no mouth theme I couldnt give them big teeth, so cute triangles are really easy.
