We'll find out soon enough eh.

Fair enough, I'll pass then, for me the whole point of ignoring the whole AoS/ET debacle is that I get to stay in the Old World that I actually liked, so I'll wait & see what the rules-only revamp the Swedish Comp guys are working on turns out as.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

"Your society's broken, so who should we blame? Should we blame the rich, powerful people who caused it? No, lets blame the people with no power and no money and those immigrants who don't even have the vote. Yea, it must be their fething fault." - Iain M Banks

"The language of modern British politics is meant to sound benign. But words do not mean what they seem to mean. 'Reform' actually means 'cut' or 'end'. 'Flexibility' really means 'exploit'. 'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal

What's most important for WHFB is that there be a few big tournament style events that will anchor the community to a point for future growth.

I hope some brave souls out there will be willing to act towards that end.

So me an my small band of gamers we are planning to just stay with 8.0 though we may give KoW a try just for kicks.
None of us liked ET so there is no problem there. None of us like the 6th level spells but we aren't crazy magic heavy people anyway. We thought about returning to 6th but some guys had newer models that don't really have a 6th ed equivalent, ie our Ogre player has a Stonehorn and the HE player has that sky chariot thing. Myself I like 8th because IMHO it is the best for core units. Big blocks of infantry can actually do something, "Step Up" is great. 6th wasn't terrible for core, because characters weren't too OP. But all you had to do was charge and wipe out the front rank and combat was just about in the bag. 7th was close but the power level went from a creep to a leap. So 8th is were we be, maybe with a few tweaks but nothing major.

As for the fluff, I have never liked GW story lines so I could care less about all that. I have stuck with WH and 40K over the years because I liked the rules and the models and just made my own story to go with it. One friend of mine was down about the whole fluff thing and being frozen in time. But he felt better when I reminded him that loads of people play WWII, WWI, ECW, ACW, and those plots aren't changing so why should fantasy be any different? Lots of people got into LOTR (and unless you're crazy like Peter Jackson) that story is not changing. It is just picking a setting to move our little toys around to.

It's time to go full Skeletor
