No matter how flawed it is, the HUGE difference in inflation between GW products and any other product out there, no matter what it is, should slap us all in the face as blatently obvious. GW are not staying in line or anywhere near the inflation rate of everything else, they are racing far ahead of it.

Well obviously, but you don't need a comparison to anything else to illustrate that GW's prices are out of whack. More importantly however, is that comparisons to other miniature pieces may help swing people into spending their money elsewhere on better priced products within the industry.

According to an American inflation calculator I just used, $10 in 1999 should cost $14.07 now. Now I know that's based on American inflation, but it gives you a decent picture of how GW have been rising prices FAR ahead of inflation.
Do you honestly feel that the quality and quantity of parts in those kits are equal?
Quantity yes from what I remember. Quality - no.
You recall incorrectly then. Either you're unfamiliar with the new kits or the old ones.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."
This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

Well I remember the Assault Squad kit from 2 months ago and it cost $40. The new one is $50 and although it's a bit better, I can't for the life of me justify spending 25% more.
I also remember the old Devastator Squad being $42 and the new one is $54. Again, quite the increase. Of course, the new one has grav cannons in it so people will buy it anyway.
